You man need to grow up if?

You may need to grow up if?

1 Cor 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh (carnal), as to infants in Christ.

STRONGS DEFINITION: CARNAL – PERTAINING TO THE FLESH
VINES: GOVERNED BY HUMAN NATURE…

CARNALITY MEANS: TO BE FLESH RULED…

IN THE NEW BIRTH EXPERIENCE THE ONLY THING THAT CHANGES IS THE MAN ON THE INSIDE….

YOUR MIND DOES NOT CHANGE WHEN YOU GET BORN AGAIN.

Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

YOU HAVE TO PRESENT YOUR BODY…
YOU HAVE TO RENEW YOUR MIND…

1 Cor 3:2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. 3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

YOU MIGHT BE CARNAL AND IN NEED OF SPIRITUAL GROWTH IF?

1. YOUR CONCLUSIONS ABOUT GOD MATCH THE WORLDS CONCLUSIONS ABOUT GOD.

2. IF YOUR CONCLUSIONS ABOUT WHO YOU ARE, IN RELATIONSHIP TO GOD MATCHES THE CONCLUSIONS OF THE WORLDS, YOU NEED TO GROW UP.

3. IF YOUR CONCLUSIONS ABOUT THE DEVIL MATCH THE CONCLUSIONS THE WORLD HAS ABOUT THE DEVIL, GROW UP.

4. IF YOU TREAT YOUR FELLOW MAN THE WAY THE WORLD DOES YOU ARE CARNAL AND YOU NEED TO GROW UP.

5. IF YOU RESPOND TO PROBLEMS THE WAY WORLD RESPONDS TO PROBLEMS YOU NEED TO GROW UP

6. IF YOUR VALUE OF THE WORD MATCHES THE VALUE THAT THE WORLD PLACES ON THE WORD OF GOD YOU NEED TO GROW UP.

WE ARE ALL CARNAL UNTIL WE GROW UP… SO IT TAKES SOME PATIENCE TO WORK WITH CARNAL PEOPLE.

MOST CARNAL PEOPLE DON’T WANT TO GROW.

GROWTH IS A PROCESS AND UNTIL A PERSON GROWS THEY ARE GOING TO DO FLESH STUFF.

HERE’S THE PRODUCT OF THE FLESH:
Gal 5:19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality,
20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, 21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

He’s For Me

“He’s For Me”

Psalm 56:9-11 NIV

Then my enemies will turn back
    when I call for help.
By this I will know that God is for me.

10 In God, whose word I praise,
in the Lord, whose word I praise—
11 in God I trust and am not afraid.
What can man do to me?

Ps 124:1 Had it not been the Lord who was on our side,” Let Israel now say, 2 “Had it not been the Lord who was on our side When men rose up against us, 3 Then they would have swallowed us alive,
When their anger was kindled against us; 4 Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, The stream would have gone over our soul;
5 Then the swollen waters Would have gone over our soul.”
6 Blessed be the Lord, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
7 Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers;
The snare is broken, and we have escaped
8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

Ps 118:1 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. 2 Let Israel now say, “His mercy endures forever.”
3 Let the house of Aaron now say, “His mercy endures forever.”
4 Let those who fear the Lord now say, “His mercy endures forever.”
5 I called on the Lord in distress; The Lord answered me and set me in a broad place.
6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?
7 The Lord is for me among those who help me; Therefore I shall see my desire on those who hate me.

Rom 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. 6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.

8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

IF HE WAS FOR US WHEN WE WERE HIS ENEMIES SURLEY HE IS FOR US NOW…

9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

Rom 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Take charge of your future

Take charge of your future

John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

1 John 4:17 By this, love is perfected with us, that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world.

1 John 4:4 You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.

GOD CARES ABOUT OUR FUTURE
Jer. 29:11 ‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.

To take charge you are going to have to make some decisions.

Deut. 30:15 “See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity;

Deut. 30:19 “I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, 20 by loving the LORD your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days,

1. If you are going to take charge of the present and the future, you are going to have to forget the past.

Phil. 3:13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

2. You’re going to have to take charge of the way you think.

Your future is dependent on your thinking.
Pro. 23:17 as a man thinks in his heart so is he.

Rom 12:2 don’t be conformed

Phil. 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.

3. It’s up to you to take charge of what’s being imparted to your spirit.

PROV. 4:20-21-22

4. YOU’RE GOING TO HAVE TO TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR FLESH.

1 Cor. 9:24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win 25 And everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. 26 Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; 27 but I buffet my body and make it my slave, lest possibly, after I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.

NLT 1 Cor. 9:26 So I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step. I am not like a boxer who misses his punches. 27 I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.

5. You are going to have to take charge in order to be steadfast in the work of the Lord.

NLT 1 Cor. 15:58 So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and steady, always enthusiastic about the Lord’s work, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.

NAS 1 Cor. 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.

MESS 1 Cor. 15:58 With all this going for us, my dear, dear friends, stand your ground. And don’t hold back. Throw yourselves into the work of the Master, confident that nothing you do for him is a waste of time or effort.

6. If you are going to take charge you are going to have to speak to some mountains. Mark 11:23

Take charge and take what’s yours. Matt. 11:12

Take charge and stir up the gift in you
2 Tim. 1:6 And for this reason I remind you to kindle afresh the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.

7. If you are going to take charge you are going to have to take charge of your finances.

2 Cor. 9:6 Now this I say, he who sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly; and he who sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully. 7 Let each one do just as he has purposed in his heart; not grudgingly or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver.

THE POWER OF FASTING

THE POWER OF FASTING

There are 2 different types of fasting recorded in the bible.

Private fasts and public fasts.

God will bless you financially and heal your body as you fast and pray.

Different lengths of fasts in the bible
1 day – 3 days – 21 days – 40 days

Jesus taught his disciples to fast.

Mark 2:18 And John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting; and they came and said to Him, “Why do John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?” 19 And Jesus said to them, “While the bridegroom is with them, the attendants of the bridegroom do not fast, do they? So long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. 20 “But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast in that day.

There are many times when we should fast. One is at the beginning of the year.

Luke 4:1 And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led about by the Spirit in the wilderness 2. for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And He ate nothing during those days; and when they had ended, He became hungry.

The important thing to know is that as you fast unto the Lord he will bless you.

THERE ARE 3 IMPORTANT THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND AS WE PREPARE TO FAST

1. It is important that as we enter this fast we do it in humility before God, asking for forgiveness of sins.

2. Always remember victory comes after the fast not during.

Luke 4:14 And Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit; and news about Him spread through all the surrounding district.

3. During the fast we are to pray and desire the gifts of the Spirit.

1 Cor. 12:31 But earnestly desire the greater gifts.

1 Cor. 14:1 Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.

Luke 21:29 And He told them a parable: “Behold the fig tree and all the trees; 30 as soon as they put forth leaves, you see it and know for yourselves that summer is now near. 31 “Even so you, too, when you see these things happening, recognize that the kingdom of God is near. 32 “Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all things take place. 33 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. 34 “Be on guard, that your hearts may not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that day come on you suddenly like a trap;

KJV (surfeiting) – gluttony – overeating
NJB (debauchery) Excessive indulgence of the appetites; especially, excessive indulgence of lust; intemperance; sensuality; habitual lewdness.

Hearing the voice of God and direction is the most valuable thing you can have.

Understand there are 4 desires that greatly motivate people.

The desire for food, for sex, for money and the supernatural

CEV Luke 21:34 Don’t spend all of your time thinking about eating or drinking or worrying about life. If you do, the final day will suddenly catch you.

One of the things that begins to happen when you fast is that God gets a hold of your desires and he breaks down the idols.

FASTING IS POSITIONING ONESELF TO RELEASE GOD’S SUPERNATURAL POWER.

Growing in God’s stuff

Growing in God’s stuff

THE KEY TO SUCCESS IN LIFE IS DOING THE WORD

1. GROW IN GRACE AND KNOWLEDGE

2Pet. 3:18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Luke 2:40 say’s Jesus grew in wisdom and grace.

2Pet. 1:2 grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our lord

Acts 20:32 “and now i commend you to god and to the Word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

Psa. 84:11 for the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord gives grace and glory; no good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.

TIMOTHY WAS INSTRUCTED BY PAUL, “BE STRONG IN THE GRACE”
2Tim. 2:1 you therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

FAITH ACCESSES THE GRACE
Rom. 5:2 through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.

2Cor. 8:9 for you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich.

2Cor. 9:8 and God is able to make all grace abound to you, that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed

2 Cor 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.

HUMILITY WILL ACCESS THE GRACE
James 4:6 but he gives a greater grace. therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

Approach the throne of grace
Heb. 4:16 let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need.

HIS GRACE IS ALL SUFFICIENT
2 Cor. 12:9 and he has said to me, “my grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.”

2. Grow (delight) yourself in the Lord

Psa. 37:4 delight yourself in the Lord; and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Delight means to stay pliable

Psa. 1:2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law he meditates day and night.

Psa. 112:1 praise the Lord! how blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments. 2 his descendants will be mighty on earth; the generation of the upright will be blessed. 3 wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.

Psa. 119:16 I shall delight in thy statutes; I shall not forget thy word.
24 thy testimonies also are my delight; they are my counselors.
35 make me walk in the path of thy commandments, for i delight in it.
47 and I shall delight in thy commandments, which I love.
70 their heart is covered with fat, but I delight in thy law.
77 may thy compassion come to me that I may live, for thy law is my delight.
92 if thy law had not been my delight, then I would have perished in my affliction.
143 trouble and anguish have come upon me; yet thy commandments are my delight.
174 I long for thy salvation, o Lord, and thy law is my delight.

Is. 58:13 “if because of the sabbath, you turn your foot from doing your own pleasure on my holy day, and call the sabbath a delight, the holy day of the lord honorable, and shall honor it, desisting from your own ways, from seeking your own pleasure, and speaking your own word, 14 then you will take delight in the lord, and I will make you ride on the heights (high places) of the earth; and I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

When you are excited about God he will cause you to live above the system of this world.

3. Grow in power, love and a sound mind
2Tim. 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind

Remove fear with the thoughts of God

Paul’s prayer… notice these 3 – power, love, sound mind

Eph. 3:16 that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his spirit in the inner man; 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 and to know the love of christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of god. 20 now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

7 HABITS OF HIGHLY ESTABLISHED CHRISTIANS

7 HABITS OF HIGHLY ESTABLISHED CHRISTIANS

nas luke 6:46 “and why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what i say? 47 “everyone who comes to me, and hears my words, and acts upon them, I will show you whom he is like: 48 he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation upon the rock; and when a flood rose, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. 49 “but the one who has heard, and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house upon the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.”

We are responsible for building a solid house (life).

Psa. 127:1 unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it

Prov. 24:3 by wisdom a house (Life) is built, and by understanding it is established

established means to place something securely and permanently in a position, situation, or condition… ; growing strongly

1. THEY FEED THEIR SPIRITS BY MAKING A HABIT OF READING GOD’S WORD EVERY DAY.

NIV James 1:25 the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.

Matt. 4:4 Jesus said, ‘man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’”

John 8:31 Jesus therefore was saying to those jews who had believed him, “if you abide in my word, then you are truly disciples of mine; 32 and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Prov. 4:20 my son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. 21 do not let them depart from your sight; keep them in the midst of your heart. 22 for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their whole body 23 watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.

2. THEY BUILD UP THEIR FAITH BY LISTENING TO GOD’S WORD EVERY DAY. (HEARING)

Rom. 10:17 so faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of christ.

NIV James 1:22 do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. do what it says.

3. THEY STRENGTHEN AND ENCOURAGE THEMSELVES DAILY BY SPEAKING GOD’S WORD OVER THEMSELVES AND OVER THEIR LIVES.

Prov. 22:18 for it will be pleasant if you keep them within you, that they may be ready on your lips. 19 so that your trust may be in the Lord, i have taught you today, even you.

AMP Philem. 1:6 and i pray that the participation in and sharing of your faith may produce and promote full recognition and appreciation and understanding and precise knowledge of every good thing that is ours in our identification with christ jesus and unto his glory

4. THEY DOMINATE AND CONTROL THEIR “THOUGHT LIVES” BY FILLING THEIR MINDS WITH GOD’S WORD.

Josh 1:8 day and night

Psa. 1:2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law he meditates day and night. 3 and he will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers.

Rom. 8:6 for the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the spirit is life and peace,
Phil. 4:8 finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.

5. THEY ANCHOR AND ESTABLISH THEIR HEARTS BY GIVING CONTINUAL PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING.

Psa. 34:1 I will bless the lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Psa. 69:30 I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

Heb. 13:15 through him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to god, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to his name.

1Th. 5:18 in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus

Eph. 5:18 and do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; 20 always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;

Psa. 139:14 i will give thanks to thee, for i am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are thy works, and my soul knows it very well.

6. THEY EDIFY THEMSELVES AND CHARGE THEIR BATTERIES BY PRAYING IN OTHER TONGUES.

1 Cor. 14:4 One who speaks in a tongue edifies himself.

Jude 1:20 but you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith; praying in the holy spirit; 21 keep yourselves in the love of god, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our lord jesus christ to eternal life.

7. THEY STAY STREAMLINED AND AREODYNAMICALLY SOUND BY GETTING RID OF EXCESS BAGGAGE.

Heb. 12:1 therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us

2Tim. 2:3 suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
4 no soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.

Psa. 112:1 praise the Lord! how blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments. 2 his descendants will be mighty on earth; the generation of the upright will be blessed. 3 wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. 4 light arises in the darkness for the upright; he is gracious and compassionate and righteous. 5 it is well with the man who is gracious and lends; he will maintain his cause in judgment. 6 for he will never be shaken; the righteous will be remembered forever. 7 he will not fear evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.

1Cor. 15:58 therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the lord.

1. They feed their Spirit by making a habit of reading God’s word every day.

2. They build up their faith by listening to God’s word every day.

3. They strengthen and encourage themselves daily by speaking God’s word over themselves and over their lives.

4. They dominate and control their thought lives by filling their minds with God’s word.

5. They anchor and establish their hearts by giving continual praise and thanksgiving.

6. They edify themselves and “charge their batteries” by praying much in other tongues.

7. They become streamlined and aerodynamically sound by getting rid of excess baggage.

Amp prov 18:14 “the strong spirit of a man sustains him in bodily paoin or trouble”
