Easter 24-7

EASTER IS SIMPLY A CELEBRATION OF DEAD PEOPLE WHO HAVE COME ALIVE IN CHRIST.

Eph 2:4-6 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

THE BEST WAY TO ACTIVATE THE RESURRECTION LIFE IS TO BE THANKFUL FOR WHAT JESUS HAS DONE FOR US EVERY DAY.

4 MAIN THINGS THAT WE SHOULD DO EVERY DAY IN OUR PRIVATE TIME…

  1. REMEMBER HIS BIRTH.

THE SON WAS ETERNALLY WITH THE FATHER (John 1:1)

Isaiah 6 “A SON WAS GIVEN”

MARY GAVE BIRTH TO JESUS IN A MANGER IN BETHLEHEM, SURROUNDED BY POVERTY AND ANIMALS.

Phil 2:5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

  1. REMEMBER HIS LIFE.

HE WENT THROUGH CHILDHOOD, ADOLESCENCE, AND ADULTHOOD AS A SINGLE MAN.  THROUGH IT ALL, HE NEVER ONCE YIELDED TO THE TEMPTATIONS WE ALL FACE EVERY DAY.

Heb 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.

HE WAS THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PASSOVER LAMB SPOTLESS AND WITHOUT BLEMISH.

  1. REMEMBER HIS MINISTRY.

AT 30, HE SURRENDERED TO THE CALL AND PURPOSE FOR WHICH HE CAME:  TO SERVE HUMANITY AND GIVE HIS LIFE FOR THEM.

THE NEXT THREE YEARS, HE “WENT ABOUT DOING GOOD AND HEALING ALL WHO WERE OPPRESSED OF THE DEVIL.”

Acts 10:38 You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

TENS OF THOUSANDS WERE HEALED, DELIVERED FROM DEMONS, RAISED FROM THE DEAD, AND FED FROM A SMALL BOY’S LUNCH.

John 21:25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they were written in detail, I suppose that even the world itself *would not contain the books that *would be written.

4. REMEMBER HIS DEATH.

AS HIS MINISTRY WAS COMING TO A CLIMAX, HIS MISSION WAS RADICAL.  HE HAD COME TO DIE.

IN SIX AGONIZING HOURS HE HAD PAID FOR MY ENTIRE SIN DEBT … AS WELL AS ALL SIN OF ALLPEOPLE FOR ALL TIME.

THEN, THERE WAS EASTER.  HE ROSE ON THE THIRD DAY

HE ASCENDED TO HEAVEN AND SAT DOWN AGAIN AT HIS FATHER’S GLORIOUS SIDE.

THE GOOD NEWS OF EASTER IS; IN GOD’S MIND, I DID ALL OF THAT WITH HIM.

Faith; Your Ticket to Jubilee

Luke 4:16 And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read. 17 And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He opened the book and found the place where it was written,
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, To set free those who are oppressed, To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.”

Amp – the day when salvation and the favor of God abound greatly
Nlt – that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.
Mess – God’s year to act

THE YEAR OF JUBILEE. (Every 50th yr) – (Atonement)

20 And He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him.
21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

22 And all were speaking well of Him, and wondering at the gracious words which were falling from His lips; and they were saying, “Is this not Joseph’s son?” 23 And He said to them, “No doubt you will quote this proverb to Me, ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we heard was done at Capernaum, do here in your hometown as well.’” 24 And He said, “Truly I say to you, no prophet is welcome in his hometown.

MARK 6 “In His home town

25 But I say to you in truth, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up for three years and six months, when a great famine came over all the land; 26 and yet Elijah was sent to none of them, but only to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.
27 And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian.”

28-30 They were filled with rage and tried to kill him…

WE SEE HEALING IN JUBILEE

Gal 3:13-14… Redeemed from curse!
In Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come upon the gentile

Duet 28 – Sickness… anything not even mentioned in the law!

2 Cor 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich. (PROVISION)

Matt 8:17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet: “He Himself took our infirmities and carried away our diseases.”

Isaiah 53:4 Surely our Sicknesses He Himself bore, And our pains He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being (PEACE) fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed.

PROVISION AND HEALING ARE PROVIDED IN JUBILEE!
(3 John 2)
(Psalm 105:37 “Brought them out w silver & gold – no sick)

Mark 5 WOMAN WITH ISSUE OF BLOOD!

Psalm 107:20 “He sent his Word and healed me and delievered me”

Luke 5:17 “Seeing their faith said, man your sins are forgiven”

23 Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins have been forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? 24 But, so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins,”—He said to the paralytic—“I say to you, get up, and pick up your stretcher and go home.”

Other people’s failure to receive never reveals God’s character!

God’s Extravagant Love Pt 3

God’s Extravagant Love Pt 3

1 John 4:16 We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

GODS LOVE CAN BE MEASURED BY LOOKING AT SOME STANDARDS

1. BY LOOKING AT THE PRICE THAT WAS PAID

THE PRICE THAT HE PAID WAS HIS OWN BLOOD.

HE GAVE IT UP IN A 7 FOLD SHEEDING OF HIS BLOOD.

Leviticus 16:14 Moreover, he shall take some of the blood of the bull and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat on the east side; also in front of the mercy seat he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.

Lev 26:18 If also after these things you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.

21 I will increase the plague on you seven times according to your sins.

24 I, will strike you seven times for your sins.

28 I, even I, will punish you seven times for your sins.

2. HIS LOVE CAN BE MEASURED BY THE INHERITANCE THAT HE GIVES US IN CHRIST.

HOW SHOULD WE RESPOND TO GOD’S EXTRAVAGANT LOVE?

1 John 3:16 We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

BEING A CHRISTIAN IS BEING LIKE CHRIST!

LOVE IS OUR GREATEST WITNESS AND IF WE LIMIT THIS WE LIMIT OUR WITNESS.

WE SHOULD BE EXTRAVAGANT ALSO!

Mark 14:3 While He was in Bethany at the home of Simon the leper, and reclining at the table, there came a woman with an alabaster vial of very costly perfume of pure nard; and she broke the vial and poured it over His head. 4 But some were indignantly remarking to one another, “Why has this perfume been wasted? 5 For this perfume might have been sold for over three hundred denarii, and the money given to the poor.” And they were scolding her. 6 But Jesus said, “Let her alone; why do you bother her? She has done a good deed to Me. 7 For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you wish you can do good to them; but you do not always have Me. 8 She has done what she could; she has anointed My body beforehand for the burial. 9 Truly I say to you, wherever the gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of in memory of her.”

John 12:3 Mary then took a pound of very costly perfume of pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. 4 But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, who was intending to betray Him, said, 5 “Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and given to poor people?” 6 Now he said this, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box, he used to pilfer what was put into it.

3 FACTORS IN THE STORY.

1 WHAT MARY DID,

2 WHAT JESUS DID,

3 HOW THE CRITICS REACTED

MARY WAS EXTRAVAGANT. AND TOTALLY DEVOTED.

NOTICE WHAT JESUS SAID.

Mark 14:6 She had done a good deed to me… (Amp – a good and beautiful thing to me)

Msg Something wonderfully significant

Wnt She has done a most gracious act towards me

Mark 14:8 She has done what she could

GOD NEVER ASKS US TO DO MORE THAN WE CAN.

Mark 14:8 she has anointed My body beforehand for the burial.

SHE WAS OPEN TO THE HOLY SPIRIT.

THE HOLY SPIRIT COULD SPEAK TO HER HEART BECAUSE SHE WAS WILLING TO BE EXTRAVAGANT

Mark 14:9 wherever the gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of in memory of her.

3 THINGS ABOUT THE CRITICS.

1. THEY WERE STINGY.

2. THEY WERE HYPOCRITES.

3. THEY WERE MISERABLE. THEY COULDN’T EVEN ENJOY THE FRAGRANCE THAT FILLED THE ROOM.

EXPERIENCING HIS REFRESHING

EXPERIENCING HIS REFRESHING

Acts 13:1 Now in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. 2 As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” 3 Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away.

WHEN IT COMES TO DIRECTION AND SPIRITUAL THINGS THEY ARE NOT INSTANT

MINISTERING TO AND SEEKING THE LORD IS NEVER WASTED TIME.

YOUR CALL AND PURPOSE IN LIFE IS GOD ORDAINED. GOD HAS A PLACE FOR YOU AND GRACES FOR YOU TO DO SPECIFIC THINGS.

Acts 3:19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,

WE ARE SPIRIT BEINGS AND WE CAN BE AWARE OF THINGS BEYOND THE PHYSICAL.

WE BECOME MORE AWARE OF HIM BY FOCUSING ON AND MINISTERING TO HIM.

MSG Ps 73:28 But I’m in the very presence of God — oh, how refreshing it is!

Psalm 16:11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

IT SHOULD NOT BE SUPRISING THAT YOU CAN BE REFRESHED AND REVIVIED IN THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD

PEOPLE ARE DOING THINGS REGULARLY THAT ARE DRAINING THEM.

THE DEVIL WOULD LOVE TO KEEP US IN A WEAKEND CONDITION ALL THE TIME… NO FAITH AND EASILY DEFEATED

Isaiah 40:28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. 29 He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.

TLB – “He gives power to the tired and worn out, and strength to the weak”

30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, 31But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO MINISTER TO THE LORD? TO WAIT ON LIKE A SERVER WAIT’S ON A TABLE.

NLT Ps 34:8 Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!

God’s Extravagant Love Pt 2

God’s Extravagant Love Pt 2

4 FACTS ABOUT EXTRAVAGANT LOVE

1. GOD’S LOVE IS INDIVIDUAL
2. IT IS EVERLASTING
3. IT PRECEEDS TIME

4. IT IS IRRESISTABLE

FOR JESUS TO REDEEM US IT COST HIM EVERYTHING.

THE PRICE THAT HE PAID WAS HIS OWN BLOOD.

1 Peter 1:18 Knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, 19 but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.

WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE THE BLOOD?

Lev 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.’ (PROPHETIC)

ISAIAH PROPHESIED THAT THE MESSIAH WOULD GIVE HIS BLOOD AS AN ATONEMENT FOR SIN.

Isaiah 53:12 Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the booty with the strong; Because He poured out Himself to death, And was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the transgressors.

“He poured out his soul (life) unto death”

Leviticus 16:14 Moreover, he shall take some of the blood of the bull and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat on the east side; also in front of the mercy seat he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.

THIS WAS FULFILLED IN EXACTLY THE WAY JESUS SHED HIS BLOOD.

HIS BLOOD WAS SPRINKLED 7 TIMES BEFORE THE SACRIFICE WAS COMPLETE

THE 1ST SHEDDING OF HIS BLOOD TOOK PLACE IN THE GARDEN

Luke 22:44 And being in agony He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground.

THE 2ND SHEDDING OF BLOOD WAS IN THE HOUSE OF THE HIGH PRIEST

Matt 26:67 Then they spat in His face and beat Him with their fists; and others slapped Him, (Blood came from his nose & other places)

THE 3RD SHEDDING OF BLOOD IS WHEN PILOT HAD JESUS FLOGGED

Matt 27:26 Then he released Barabbas for them; but after having Jesus scourged, he handed Him over to be crucified.

Isaiah 50:6 I gave My back to those who strike Me, And My cheeks to those who pluck out the beard; I did not cover My face from humiliation and spitting.

THE 4TH SHEDDING OF BLOOD IS FOUND ALSO IN Isaiah 50:6 “My cheeks to those who pluck out the beard”…

THE 5TH SHEDDING OF BLOOD WAS THE CROWN OF THORNS.

Matt 27:28 They stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him. 29 And after twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on His head,

THE 6TH SHEDDING OF BLOOD WAS THE CRUCIFICTION WHERE THEY PIERCED JESUS HANDS AND FEET WITH NAILS.

Matt 27:35 And when they had crucified Him, they divided up His garments among themselves by casting lots.

PREDICTED IN Psalm 22:16-18 They pierced my hands and my feet. I can count all my bones. They look, they stare at me; They divide my garments among them, And for my clothing they cast lots.

THE 7TH SHEDDING OF BLOOD IS WHEN A ROMAN SOLDIER WAS SENT TO MAKE SURE THE MEN ON THE CROSS’S WERE DEAD.

Q. WHAT DO WE RECEIVE BECAUSE OF HIS EXTRAVAGAN LOVE?

WHAT WE RECEIVE IS EQUALLY EXTRAVAGANT.

Romans 8:15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!”

PAUL CONTINUES WITH OUR POSITION IN CHRIST

16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, (THE SPIRIT REINFORCES WHO WE ARE)

PAUL GOES ON TO EXPLAIN WHAT IS INVOLVED

17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him

JESUS AS THE FIRST SON HAS THE WHOLE INHERITANCE AND WE SHARE THE WHOLE INHERITANCE WITH HIM.

John 16:13 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.

THE INHERITANCE IS THE FULLNESS OF WHAT GOD HAS BESTOWED UPON US IN CHRIST.

Romans 8:32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

WHEN WE RECEIVE CHRIST WE RECEIVE ALL THINGS.

1 Cor 3:21 So then let no one boast in men. For all things belong to you, 22 whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or things present or things to come; all things belong to you, 23 and you belong to Christ; and Christ belongs to God.

1 John 4:16 We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

NIV And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.
