“Now & Then”

1 Cor 13:12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. 13 But nowfaith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Psa. 23:6 Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Eccl 3:11 He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart

TWO KINDS OF LIFE

1.TO BE LIVING “AN EXISTENCE” WHICH EVERY HUMAN EXPERIENCES…

  1. ETERNAL LIFE” WHICH BEGINS WHILE WE LIVE…

TO LIVE THIS NEW LIFE EFFECTIVELY REQUIRES FAITH, HOPE, AND LOVE.

FAITH IS WHAT IS REQUIRED TO RECEIVE THE LIFE THAT COMES FROM ABOVE… Romans 10:17

THE FAITH LIFE

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith 8 in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.

SALVATION IS NOT ONLY FOR “NOW” BUT IT POSITIONS US FOR ETERNITY CALLED “THEN”.

  1. HOPE”… AN EXPECTATION.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

1 Thess 5:8 But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation.

1 Cor 15:17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied.

Hebrews 6:18 So that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us.

19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil, where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a high priest forever

Titus 1:1 Paul, a bond-servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the faith of those chosen of God and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness, 2 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago,

Colossians 1:26 the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints, to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

HOPE IN THIS LIFE IS A PURIFIER

1 John 3:2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. 3 He that hath this hope purifies himself just as he is pure”

LOVE

Romans 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

2 Tim 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind.

Galatians 5:22 LOVE IS THE FIRST FRUIT LISTED IN THE BORN AGAIN HUMAN SPIRIT.

LOVE IS OUR GREATEST WITNESS… IF WE LIMIT THAT, WE LIMIT OUR WITNESS.

1 Cor 16:13 Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. 14 Let all that you do be done in love.

Colossians 3:14 Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.

Ephesians 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;

2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

1 Cor 13:1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.

1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death.

NLT 1 John 4:17 And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.

THE LOVE OF GOD IS THE ETERNAL STANDARD AND MEASURE FOR WALKING IN THE NOW.

LOVE IS TO BE SEEN IN THE LIGHT OF ETERNITY NOT TEMPORARY!

THE EFFECTIVE CHRISTIAN IS ABOUT MAKING THEIR LIFE COUNT TODAY AND FOREVER.

Mess Titus 3:7 God’s gift has restored our relationship with him and given us back our lives. And there’s more life to come—an eternity of life! 8 You can count on this. I want you to put your foot down. Take a firm stand on these matters so that those who have put their trust in God will concentrate on the essentials that are good for everyone.

Giving yourself to prayer 6

“7 Things prayer does for the ministry gifts”

KJV Ps 109:4 …“But I give myself unto prayer”

Ps 29; 3 The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; The God of glory thunders, The Lord is over many waters. 4 The voice of the Lord is powerful, The voice of the Lord is majestic.

9 The voice of the Lord makes the deer to calve And strips the forests bare; And in His temple everything says, “Glory!”

WE NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF PRAYING FOR THAT VOICE IN CONNECTION WITH MINISTRY GIFTS AND THE VOICE OF UTTERANCE.

Rom 15:30 Now I urge you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me,

2 Cor 1:11 you also joining in helping us through your prayers, so that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the favor bestowed on us through the prayers of many.

Col 4:2 Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; 3 praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door (Utterance) for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; 4 that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak.

OUR PRAYERS AFFECT THE DOOR

Eph 6:19 and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

20th Cen “that when I begin to speak, words may be given to me”

NEB “That I may be granted the right words when I open my mouth”

BEK “That I will be told what to say”

2 Thess 3:1 Finally, brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you;

Phil “That the word of the Lord may go forward, unhindered”

Will “and prove it’s glorious power”. (1 Cor 2:4-5 My speech)

7 THINGS THAT HAPPEN WHEN YOU PRAY FOR THE MINISTRY GIFT

1.THE DOOR OF UTTERANCE GIVES THE MINISTRY GIFT ACCESS TO THE ROOM (OFFICE)

  1. THE DOOR OF A NATION IS ACCESSED BY UTTERANCE

  1. THE DOOR OF UTTERANCE GIVES ACCESS TO THE HARVEST OF SOULS

1 Cor 16:9 for a wide door for effective service has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.

  1. THE DOOR OF UTTERANCE ACTIVATES THE HOLY SPIRIT

Acts 10:44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message.

  1. THE DOOR OF UTTERANCE GIVES ACCESS TO THE GOSPEL

1 Pet 1:12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things into which angels long to look.

  1. THE DOOR OF UTTERANCE GIVES THE BODY OF CHRIST ACCESS TO AMMUNITION.

REVELATION IS YOUR AMMUNITION

  1. THE DOOR OF UTTERANCE OPENS THE DOOR TO DESTINY

KJV Job 22:29 When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.

YOUR DESTINY IS CONNECTED TO REVELATION THAT COMES FORTH

Developing Your Vision

Prov 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained,

But happy is he who keeps the law.

STUDYING GOD’S WORD WILL GIVE YOU VISION FOR LIFE. (A WORD IMAGE)…

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

NIV Prov 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

20 My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings.

21 Do not let them depart from your sight; Keep them in the midst of your heart. 22 For they are life to those who find them And health to all their body.

Ps 45:1 My heart overflows with a good theme; My tongue is like pen

YOUR VISION OF JESUS IN YOU

2 Cor 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION WE SHOULD BE ASKING OURSELVES IS WHAT DO WE SEE…

HOW YOU GREW UP AND THE ATMOSPHERE YOU CHOOSE DETERINES WHAT AND HOW YOU SEE

YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO DEVELOP A VISION FOR WALKING IN LOVE

YOU HAVE TO BE DILIGENT IN THE WORD TO REPLACE OLD IMAGES.

2 Cor 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.

GODS THOUGHTS ARE TRANSFORMING…

POSSESSING OUR HEALING

Numb 21:4 The people spoke against God and Moses, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and we loathe this miserable food.”

8 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a standard; and it shall come about, that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, he will live.” 9 And Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on the standard; and it came about, that if a serpent bit any man, when he looked to the bronze serpent, he lived.

Giving yourself to prayer 5

“The door of utterance”

KJV Ps 109:4 …“But I give myself unto prayer”

Ps 29; 3 The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; The God of glory thunders, The Lord is over many waters. 4 The voice of the Lord is powerful, The voice of the Lord is majestic. 5 The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; Yes, the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. 6 He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, And Sirion like a young wild ox. 7 The voice of the Lord hews out flames of fire. The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness; 8 The Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. 9 The voice of the Lord makes the deer to calve And strips the forests bare; And in His temple everything says, “Glory!”

PASTORS AND MINISTRY GIFTS NEED PRAYER

Col 4:2 Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; 3 praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; 4 that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak.

ANY TIME GOD WANTS TO CHANGE ANYONES LIFE HE ALWAYS

TOUCHES THEIR MOUTH.

OUR PRAYERS AFFECT THE DOOR!

THE VOICE OPENS THE WAY FOR THE HAND & THE SIGNS & WONDERS

Acts 4:29 Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, 30 by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.”

PRAYER FOR BOLDNESS –

Jeri 1:4 Now the word of the Lord came to me saying, 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

6 Then I said, “Alas, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, Because I am a youth.” 7 But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ Because everywhere I send you, you shall go, And all that I command you, you shall speak. 8 “Do not be afraid of (THEIR FACES) them, For I am with you to deliver you,” declares the Lord. 9 Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. 10 See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

11 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree. 12 Then said the Lord unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.

Knox 1:9 “I have inspired thy lips with utterance”

WALKING AROUND THESE WALLS

JOSHUA 6:15-17, 20

15-17 When the seventh day came, they got up early and marched around the city this same way but seven times—yes, this day they circled the city seven times. On the seventh time around the priests blew the trumpets and Joshua signaled the people, “Shout!—God has given you the city! The city and everything in it is under a holy curse and offered up to God.

20 The priests blew the trumpets. When the people heard the blast of the trumpets, they gave a thunderclap shout. The wall fell at once. The people rushed straight into the city and took it.

OUR FAITH IS ULTIMATELY A WALK WITH GOD

  1. LET GOD VALIDATE YOU

JOSHUA 3:7

God said to Joshua, “This very day I will begin to make you great in the eyes of all Israel. They’ll see for themselves that I’m with you in the same way that I was with Moses.

JOSHUA 6:10

10 Joshua had given orders to the people, “Don’t shout. In fact, don’t even speak—not so much as a whisper until you hear me say, ‘Shout!’—then shout away!”

2. WALK OUT YOUR PROMISE. BEFORE YOU TALK YOUR WAY OUT OF YOUR PROMISE

JAMES 3:5-10

3-5 A bit in the mouth of a horse controls the whole horse. A small rudder on a huge ship in the hands of a skilled captain sets a course in the face of the strongest winds. A word out of your mouth may seem of no account, but it can accomplish nearly anything—or destroy it!

5-6 It only takes a spark, remember, to set off a forest fire. A careless or wrongly placed word out of your mouth can do that. By our speech we can ruin the world, turn harmony to chaos, throw mud on a reputation, send the whole world up in smoke and go up in smoke with it, smoke right from the pit of hell.

7-10 This is scary: You can tame a tiger, but you can’t tame a tongue—it’s never been done. The tongue runs wild, a wanton killer. With our tongues we bless God our Father; with the same tongues we curse the very men and women he made in his image. Curses and blessings out of the same mouth!

3. THIS IS HOW WE FIGHT OUR BATTLES. BY FAITH

HEBREWS 11:17,20-24,29,30

17 By faith, Abraham, at the time of testing, offered Isaac back to God.

20 By an act of faith, Isaac reached into the future as he blessed Jacob and Esau.

21 By an act of faith, Jacob on his deathbed blessed each of Joseph’s sons in turn, blessing them with God’s blessing, not his own—as he bowed worshipfully upon his staff.

22 By an act of faith, Joseph, while dying, prophesied the exodus of Israel, and made arrangements for his own burial.

23 By an act of faith, Moses’ parents hid him away for three months after his birth. They saw the child’s beauty, and they braved the king’s decree.

24 By faith, Moses, when grown, refused the privileges of the Egyptian royal house.

29 By an act of faith, Israel walked through the Red Sea on dry ground. The Egyptians tried it and drowned.

30 By faith, the Israelites marched around the walls of Jericho for seven days, and the walls fell flat.

MARK 10:46-52

46-48 They spent some time in Jericho. As Jesus was leaving town, trailed by his disciples and a parade of people, a blind beggar by the name of Bartimaeus, son of Timaeus, was sitting alongside the road. When he heard that Jesus the Nazarene was passing by, he began to cry out, “Son of David, Jesus! Mercy, have mercy on me!” Many tried to hush him up, but he yelled all the louder, “Son of David! Mercy, have mercy on me!”

49-50 Jesus stopped in his tracks. “Call him over.”

They called him. “It’s your lucky day! Get up! He’s calling you to come!” Throwing off his coat, he was on his feet at once and came to Jesus.

51 Jesus said, “What can I do for you?”

The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”

52 “On your way,” said Jesus. “Your faith has saved and healed you.”

In that very instant he recovered his sight and followed Jesus down the road.

THE GRACE OF GOD + FAITH + OBEDIENCE = WHATEVER YOU NEED

4. PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THE VICTORY

Hunger Traps Pt 2

“The Pride of Life”

Ps 124:7 Our soul has escaped as a bird out of the snare of the trapper; The snare is broken and we have escaped.

Ps 91:3 For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper

nas 1John 2:15 Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of god abides forever.

the trapper only sets traps where he see’s the tracks!

whatever your hungry for is what your fruit becomes.

Matt 4:5 Then the devil took him into the holy city; and he had him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and said to him,  “if you are the son of god throw yourself down; for it is written,  ‘he will give his angels charge concerning you’; and ‘on their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’”

No one is ever exempt from dealing w pride

pride is satan’s chemical warfare.  you fail and don’t even know why.

prov 16:5 “proud in heart – an abomination to the Lord”

pride hides itself in terms like; progressive and motivation and i can do it.  i’m not worthy/not good enough.

James 4:6 god resists the proud.

the fall of satan.

Is. 14:13  “But you said in your heart, I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God, and I will sit on the mount of assembly in the recesses of the north. 14 ‘I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the most high.’

pride is always into promoting itself.

2Tim 3:1 But realize this that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 for men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,

3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of god; 5 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; and avoid such men as these.

pride say’s, “i gotta do something”.

PEOPLE HAVE TO get past the pressure of pride, the pressure to perform, the pressure to prove, the pressure to keep up with the jones’s.

pride is trying to make things happen instead of letting things happen.

1Tim 6:6 But godliness actually is a means of great gain, when accompanied by contentment.

Giving yourself to prayer 4

“The voice of the Lord”

KJV Ps 109:4 …“But I give myself unto prayer”

EM BOUNDS – “Secret fervent believing prayer lies at the root of all personal godliness”

James 5:16 The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much… “Exerts a mighty influence

Ps 29:1 Ascribe to the Lord, O sons of the mighty, Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. 2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in holy array. 3 The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; The God of glory thunders, The Lord is over many waters. 9 The voice of the Lord makes the deer to calve And strips the forests bare; And in His temple everything says, “Glory!” 10 The Lord sat as King at the flood; Yes, the Lord sits as King forever. 11 The Lord will give strength to His people; The Lord will bless His people with peace.

THERE IS POWER IN THE VOICE OF THE LORD

THE WHOLE CHURHC IS SHAPPED, PROPELLED AND PREPARED BY THE VOICE OF THE LORD.

Isaiah 40:3 A voice is calling, “Clear the way for the Lord in the wilderness; Make smooth in the desert a highway for our God. 4 Let every valley be lifted up, And every mountain and hill be made low; And let the rough ground become a plain, And the rugged terrain a broad valley; 5 Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed, And all flesh will see it together; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

WE NEED TO KNOW THE IMPORTANCE OF PRAYING FOR THAT VOICE IN CONNECTION WITH MINISTRY GIFTS AND THE VOICE OF UTTERANCE.

WHEN A MAN OF GOD IS IN HIS OFFICE HIS WORDS CARRY GREATER IMPACT IN TERMS OF THE SPHERE OF HIS INFLUENCE.  (2 Cor 10:13-16)

Heb 1 TELLS US THE VOICE OF THE LORD CAME THROUGH JESUS

OUR MOUTH IS A MOUTH PIECE FOR GOD!

IT’S IMPORTANT FOR THE MINISTRY GIFT TO BE OPERATING IN THE FULL MEASURE OF THAT OFFICE.

Rom 15:30 Now I urge you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me,
