First Love

First Love

NkJ Rev. 2:1 “To the angel of the church of Ephesus write, ‘These things says He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands: 2 “I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars 3 And you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary. 4 Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

THEY HAD RESPONSIBILITY WITHOUT ROMANCE

5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent.

RESTORE YOUR RELATIONSHIP

Mark 12:28 And one of the scribes came and heard them arguing, and recognizing that he had answered them well, asked him, “what commandment is the foremost of all?”29 Jesus answered, “the foremost is, ‘hear, o Israel! The Lord our God is one Lord; 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ 31 “The second is this, ‘you shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

WHAT IS THE PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF LOVING GOD?

Matt 6:33 “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.

NLT Luke 14:15 Hearing this, a man sitting at the table with Jesus exclaimed, “what a privilege it would be to have a share in the kingdom of God!” 16 Jesus replied with this illustration: “A man prepared a great feast and sent out many invitations. 17 When all was ready, he sent his servant around to notify the guests that it was time for them to come. 18 But they all began making excuses. One said he had just bought a field and wanted to inspect it, so he asked to be excused. 19 Another said he had just bought five pair of oxen and wanted to try them out. 20 Another had just been married, so he said he couldn’t come. 21 “The servant returned and told his master what they had said. His master was angry and said, ‘Go quickly into the streets and alleys of the city and invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind.’

22 After the servant had done this, he reported, ‘there is still room for more.’ 23 So his master said, ‘go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full. 24 For none of those i invited first will get even the smallest taste of what i had prepared for them.

25 Great crowds were following Jesus. He turned around and said to them, 26 “if you want to be my follower you must love me more than your own father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, more than your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple. 27 And you cannot be my disciple if you do not carry your own cross and follow me.

33 So no one can become my disciple without giving up everything for me.
