A heartbeat for the Harvest

A heartbeat for the Harvest

nlt Matt 9:36 He felt great pity for the crowds that came, because their problems were so great and they didn’t know where to go for help. they were like sheep without a shepherd. 37 He said to his disciples, “the harvest is so great, but the workers are so few. 38 So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send out more workers for his fields.”

AMP – SO PRAY TO THE LORD OF THE HARVEST TO FORCE OUT AND THRUST LABORERS INTO HIS HARVEST.

msg 38 On your knees and pray for harvest hands!”

when jesus was born, the entire world population was 200 million

in 1,000 ad., the population of the entire world was 300 million people

today, there is over 7 billion people living on the face of the earth

heavens concern for those not yet harvested into the kingdom

nlt Luke 15:1 Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach. 2 this made the pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such despicable people—even eating with them! 3 So Jesus used this illustration: 4 “If you had one hundred sheep, and one of them strayed away and was lost in the wilderness, wouldn’t you leave the ninety-nine others to go and search for the lost one until you found it? 5 And then you would joyfully carry it home on your shoulders. 6 When you arrived, you would call together your friends and neighbors to rejoice with you because your lost sheep was found. 7 In the same way, heaven will be happier over one lost sinner who returns to god than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!

3 parables that revealed his attitude toward sinners (the lost).

1. he was the faithful, compassionate shepherd who leaves the flock to seek the one lost sheep until it is found.

2. he taught them that he was the woman who seeks dilegently for her one lost piece of silver and then rejoices when it is found (luke 5:4-10)

3. he reveals himself as the loving father in the parable of the prodigal son who watches daily for the return of his lost son. (luke 15)

the heartbeat of jesus

Matt 9:13 I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Matt 15:24 I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Luke 19:10 For the son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

James 5:7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

2Pet 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise (His coming), as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

lifting up our spiritual eyes has to do with recognizing the season we are in.

too much natural and not enough spiritual will cause you to miss out on the harvest

jesus told his disciples to “lift up their eyes”

John 4:35 Say not ye, there are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? Behold, i say unto you, lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. 36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal

the harvest is not for the next generation.

the initial and most important way to prepare for and participate in the harvest is through prayer

PRAYER IS OUR INITIAL RESPONSIBILITY IN PREPARING FOR HARVEST.

what jesus said concerning the signs of the times.

Luke 21:29 And he spake to them a parable; behold the fig tree, and all the trees; 30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. 31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. 32 Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. 33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. 34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the son of man.

NLT 34 “Watch out! don’t let me find you living in careless ease and drunkenness, and filled with the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware, 35 as in a trap. For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth.
36 Keep a constant watch. And pray that, if possible, you may escape these horrors and stand before the son of man.”
