Healing- Dr. Shirley Christian

  1. God’s will to heal.

The Lord said to Moses, 23 “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them:

24 “‘“Adonai bless you and keep you;Three Hebrew words meaning physical blessings;

3 25 Adonai make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; five words for mental emotional wholeness
26 Adonai turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’ Seven words for spirit shalom/wholeness-completeness in every way

27 “So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.” God is showing his relationship with the Israelites..the Name Yahweh is repeated three times:  to invoke the name of God upon the congregation was to remind them of who he is (his character), what he has done (his faithfulness), and what he promises to do (his covenant).

Rabbit trail for grins

Song of Solomon 2:9 Gazing through the window; he peers through the lattice. With raised hands in startrek format, the priest blesses the people through five lattice apertures.

John 21:16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” …

to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes,
Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.”Tending sheep includes finding the lost-leaving the 99 for the one lost. What is a lost sheep?

Ezekiel 34:16 I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak, but the sleek and the strong I will destroy. I will shepherd the flock with justice.

Fast forward to NT again-same God, but appearing in fullness of Deity in Jesus. Shepherd..the good shepherd.

Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.Matt 3:23 and 9:35

… Jesus went throughout all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of disease and sickness among …

Matthew 9:35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages …

  1. Jesus commanded disciples to heal:

Luke 9:2 and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

Luke 10:1 (sent the 70 out to do the same).

In This age, as disciples, we do the same. We are equipped..

1 Cor 12 gifts of healings, working of miracles, special faith, word of knowledge.

Through laying on of hands, through the word as you listen..

  1. We have authority:

Gen 5:1 In the day when God created man, He made him in the likeness of God.

 Genesis 1:27
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Gen 1:28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. He is warning them..the snake is coming..subdue

Col3:10
and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him

God will meet you where your faith is…He confirms his word, watches over it according to Jer 1

Heb 2:3 -4 how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was at the first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard, God also testifying with them, both by signs and wondersand by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His own will.

When you are healed, God confirming his word, remember you have an opponent.  The thief wants to steal kill and destroy…he will try to steal what you received! We must struggle against opposition..life is a faith fight..Draw on inner strength to fight the faith fight. Stay in love, peace, and you stay in the faith arena. We may experience struggle but remember Jesus said, I have overcome the world!

John 16:33
“These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one
who is in you is greater
than the one who is in the world.

1 John 2:14  I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word
of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

Thanks be to God who gives us the victory.

“Filled with the Spirit Pt 2”

John 7:37 Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. 38 “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water.’” 39 But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Matt 3:11 As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

John 20:22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them and *said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. (THE NEW BIRTH)

Luke 24:49 And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”

LUKE IS THE WRITER OF ACTS

Acts 1:4-5 Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses…

Acts 2:1When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.

16 But this is what was spoken of through the prophet Joel: ‘And it shall be in the last days,’ God says, ‘That I will pour forth of My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy

JOHN G LAKE – “The greatest revelation that a believer can possess is Col 1:27 Christ in you the hope of glory”…..

The realization that not only is Jesus seated in heaven at the right hand of the Father but through the person of the Holy Spirit he has taken up residence in our hearts with the anticipation of revealing himself in all of his fullness, all of his love, mercy, goodness and his power to the people we come into contact with.

The greatest experience that a believer can have is the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. It is this experience that enables us and empowers us to live in and live out the fullness of that revelation.

SALVATION; BEING TRANSLATED OUT OF DARKNESS AND INTO LIGHT, BEING SEATED WITH JESUS IN HEAVENLY PLACES IS ONE THING BUT BEING EMPOWERED IS ANOTHER.

there is a DISTINCT difference between being born of the spirit and being baptised in the spirit

A DISTINCTION BETWEEN THE SPIRIT WITHIN AND THE SPIRIT UPON.

Bro hagin said, “the world needs to be taught to receive jesus, the church needs to be taught to receive the holy Spirit.

Acts 8:5 Philip went down to the city of Samaria and began proclaiming Christ to them. 6 The crowds with one accord were giving attention to what was said by Philip, as they heard and saw the signs which he was performing. 7 For in the case of many who had unclean spirits, they were coming out of them shouting with a loud voice; and many who had been paralyzed and lame were healed. 8 So there was much rejoicing in that city.

12 But when they believed Philip preaching the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were being baptized, men and women alike.

14 Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent them Peter and John, 15 who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. 16 For He had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then they began laying their hands on them, and they were receiving the Holy Spirit.

Vs 18 say’s “Simon saw that the Spirit was bestowed through the laying on of the apostles hands, and he offered them money”

THIS EXPERIENCE CAN BE SEEN AND HEARD. (Acts 19:6) (Acts 2)

Acts 9:17 So Ananias departed and entered the house, and after laying his hands on him said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road by which you were coming, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

JESUS SAID, Luke 11:13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?”

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS GOD’S GIFT TO HIS CHILDREN, NOT SINNERS.

Mark 2:22 “No one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost and the skins as well; but one puts new wine into fresh wineskins.”

JESUS IS GOD’S GIFT TO THE WORLD, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT IS GOD’S GIFT TO HIS CHILDREN.

THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A WELL AND A RIVER… John 4 AND John 7

Confession ignites manifestation Pt 4

“You shall decree a thing”

Amp Phil 2:12 Work out (cultivate, carry out to the goal, and fully complete) your own salvation with reverence and awe and trembling.

AMP Philem 1:6 That the participation in and sharing of your faith may produce and promote full recognition and appreciation and understanding and precise knowledge of every good thing that is ours in our identification with Christ Jesus and unto his glory

Job 22:28 You will also decree a thing, and it will be established for you; And light will shine on your ways.

29 “When you are cast down, you will speak with confidence,

And the humble person He will save.

A CHARACTERISTIC OF FAITH IS THAT IT IS BUILT UPON OR… IT IS THE RESULT OF A FULL PERSUASION OF THE REVEALED WILL OF GOD.

FF BOSWORTH – “CHRIST THE HEALER”… “FAITH BEGINS WHERE THE WILL OF GOD IS KNOWN”

IN ORDER TO MAKE A TRUE FAITH CONFESSION IT MUST BE FROM A PERSUADED HEART

Eph 5:17 So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Hebrews Ch 11 THE HEROS OF FAITH, TIME AFTER TIME THEY HAD THE OPPORTUNITY AND SAID SOMETHING BOLDLY.

Ex. ABRAHAM Gen 22:5 – OFFERING ISAAC AS AN OFFERING

“The Lord will provide”

“I and the boy will go up and we will come back”

FAITH IS BOLD… BOLD TO DECLARE AND DECREE WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN… NOT JUST WHAT I THINK BUT WHAT GOD’S WORD SAY’S.

“I will live and not die, and declare the works of the Lord” 118:17

Ex. JACOB AND ISRAEL Heb 11:20-21 – “By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come”

“By faith Jacob when he was dying blessed the sons of Joseph”

Vs 22 “By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandments concerning his bones”

DAVID AND GOLIATH… 1 Sam 17

David said to Saul, “Your servant killed both the lion and the bear this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them”…

Ex. 3 HEBREW CHILDREN WHO SAID, WE ARE NOT BOWING DOWN… OUR GOD WILL DELIVER US!

EX. JOSHUA AND CALEB! Numb 13 & 14

12 spies went out and spy’ed out the land…

Vs 30 “Let’s go up and possess…we are well able to possess it”

FAITH IS PERSUADED… IT’S CONFIDENT CONCERNING THE OUTCOME

Psa 91 “No plague shall come near me”…

Joshua 10 – JOSHUA COMMANDS THE SUN TO BE STILL Vs 12

14 “The Lord listened to the voice of a man; for the Lord fought for Israel”

Josh 14:6-7 Then the sons of Judah drew near to Joshua in Gilgal, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know the word which the Lord spoke to Moses the man of God concerning you and me in Kadesh-barnea. I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land, and I brought word back to him as it was in my heart.

Vs 8 “I followed the Lord my God fully” Vs 12 (Give me my mountain)

2 Cor 4:13 “I believe therefor I spoke, we believe and we speak”

“Did you receive the Holy Spirit?”

Acts 19:1And it came about that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper country came to Ephesus, and found some disciples, 2 and he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” And they said to him, “No, we have not even heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” 3 And he said, “Into what then were you baptized?” And they said, “Into John’s baptism.” 4 And Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” 5 And when they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying. (they started drinking)

7 And there were in all about twelve men.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

you can be born of the spirit but not baptized in the spirit.

the disciples were born of the spirit in John 20 before the day of penticost but they were not baptized in the holy spirit.

there are two things to receive. did you get them both?

Acts 19:3 And he said, “Into what then were you baptized?”

4 And Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus.”

5 when they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

THE SPIRIT IN HIS FULNESS HAD NOT COME UPON THEM.

6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them

there is a difference between being born of the spirit and being baptised in the spirit

6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying.

god wants your tongue to be an instrument of praise

1Cor 14:17 He who speaks in a tongue gives thanks well

1 cor 14 paul said, when you pray in tongues your spirit is doing the praying and your mind is unfruitful.

isaiah 28:11 this is the rest, the refreshing…

1Cor. 14:2 For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men, but to God;

1Cor. 14:18 I thank God, I speak in tongues more than you all;

5 Now I wish that you all spoke in tongues but even more that you would prophesy

“Staying sharp”

Eccl 10:10 If the axe is dull and he does not sharpen its edge, then he must exert more strength. Wisdom has the advantage of giving success.

AMP wisdom [to sharpen the axe] helps him succeed [with less effort].

HOW CAN YOU MAINTAIN YOUR CUTTING EDGE DAY IN AND DAY OUT?

1. CONSISTENT DEVOTIONAL LIFE

Josh 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.

2. CONSISTENT PERSONAL GROWTH

2 Peter 3:18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

3. CONSISTENT PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

NLT 1 Tim 4:8 Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.”

4. CONSISTENT POSITIVE ATTITUDE

NLT Rom 14:17 For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 If you serve Christ with this attitude, you will please God, and others will approve of you, too.

5. CONSISTENT PARTNERSHIPS
Prov. 27:17 “IRON SHARPENS IRON AND ONE MAN SHARPENS ANOTHER.”

The Law of Freedom Pt 2

Gal 6:2 Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.

WE ARE DESIGNED TO BE AN EXPRESSION OF GOD’S LOVE!

Rom 13:8 Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. 9 For this, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

Gal 5:13 For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

14 For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

LOVE SUPPLIES A DOUBLE MOTIVATION

1. OBEDIENCE TO THE LORD

2. RIGHT CONDUCT TOWARDS MAN

1. John 14:15 If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.

THE MOTIVATION FOR OBEYING THE LORD IS LOVE.

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.

THE ONLY MOTIVATION THAT WORKS FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME IS LOVE

2. OUR MOTIVATION FOR PEOPLE

Rom 13:10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

NEW TESTAMENT LOVE IS PROGRESSIVE

Phil 4:9 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ; 11having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

YOUR MISTAKE DOES NOT CHANGE WHO YOU ARE

Rom 4:4 Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due. 5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness,

Luke 22:31 Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; 32 but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.” 33 But he said to Him, “Lord, with You I am ready to go both to prison and to death!” 34 And He said, “I say to you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me.”

3 APPLICATIONS FOR LIFE

1. BUILD UP YOUR FAITH. (Biblical faith)

Jude 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God,

2. WORK OUT THAT LOVE BY SERVING

Gal 5:13 “Through love serve one another”

3. THROUGH PRAYER AND BIBLE STUDY BECOME MORE AND MORE SENSITIVE TO THE WAY LOVE APPLIES IN EACH SITUATION

Ps 119:38 Establish Your word to Your servant, As that which produces reverence for You.
