Hunger Traps Pt

“The flesh & The eyes”

Ps 124:7 Our soul has escaped as a bird out of the snare of the trapper; The snare is broken and we have escaped. 8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

Ps 91:3 For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper

John 10:10     –   the thief vs the good shepherd

nas 1John 2:14 I have written to you, fathers, because you know him who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of god abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

15 Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and also its lusts (CRAVINGS); but the one who does the will of god abides forever.

nlt 1John 2:15 Stop loving this evil world and all that it offers you, for when you love the world, you show that you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only the lust for physical pleasure, the lust for everything we see, and pride in our possessions. These are not from the Father. They are from this evil world.

AMP - Pretentious confidence in one’s resources or in the stability of earthly things.

Messwanting to appear important

the abundant life vs the pride of life.

ONE IS THE LIFE OF GOD THAT FLOWS THROUGH YOU, THE OTHER IS A LIFE CREATED OF SELF AND AFFECTS ONLY THE SELF.

the word pride means – alazoneia, from 213; braggadocio, (by implication) self-confidence:—boasting.

the word life means – bi÷oß bios, (literally) the present state of existence; by implication, the means of livelihood:—good, life, living.

1John 2:15 Do not love the world, nor the things in the world.

the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.

kjv Heb 4:15 for we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; But was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

there are only three areas where you can be tempted.

whenever you are tempted it falls into the context of one of these three areas

Gen 3:6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for food (lust of the flesh), and that it was a delight to the eyes (lust of the eye), and that the tree was desirable to make one wise (pride of life), she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.

Matt 4:1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And after he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he then became hungry. 3 And the tempter came

satan always knows what you are hungry for.

2Pet 1:3 seeing that his divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and excellence. 4 For by these he has granted to us his precious and magnificent promises, in order that by them you might become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.

when you are empty is when satan comes along.

Matt 4:3 And the tempter came and said to him, “if you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

whatever your hungry for is what your fruit becomes.

Matt 4:8 again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory;

(the lust of the eyes)

Matt 4:9 and he said to him, “all these things will I give you, if you fall down and worship me.”

Giving yourself to prayer 3

“Persistent prayer”

NAS Ps 109:4 In return for my love they act as my accusers;

But I am in prayer.

KJV “But I give myself unto prayer”

Acts 6:4 But we will give (Devote) ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

Acts 2:42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Zech 10:1 Ask rain from the Lord at the time of the spring rain—

The Lord who makes the storm clouds; And He will give them showers of rain, vegetation in the field to each man.

ELIJAH1 KINGS 18:1 Now it happened after many days that the word of the Lord came to Elijah in the third year, saying, “Go, show yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the face of the earth.”

41 Now Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of the roar of a heavy shower.”

42 So Ahab went up to eat and drink. But Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he crouched down on the earth and put his face between his knees.

43 He said to his servant, “Go up now, look toward the sea.” So he went up and looked and said, “There is nothing.” And he said, “Go back” seven times. 44 It came about at the seventh time, that he said, “Behold, a cloud as small as a man’s hand is coming up from the sea.” And he said, “Go up, say to Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot and go down, so that the heavy shower does not stop you.’” 45 In a little while the sky grew black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy shower. And Ahab rode and went to Jezreel. Then the hand of the Lord was on Elijah, and he girded up his loins and outran Ahab to Jezreel.

James 5:16 The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much…

Exerts a mighty influence

Eph 6:18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,

PERSEVERANCE MEANS YOU DON’T QUIT

Luke 18 men ought to pray and not faint.  Woman who goes to the unrighteous judge

Luke 11 the guy that goes to his neighbor for bread late in the night.

IMPORTUNITY MEANS; SHAMELESS PERSISTENCE – BOLDNESS

Luke 18:1 Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart, 2 saying, “In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and did not respect man. 3 There was a widow in that city, and she kept coming to him, saying, ‘Give me legal protection from my opponent.’ 4 For a while he was unwilling; but afterward he said to himself, ‘Even though I do not fear God nor respect man, 5 yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her legal protection, otherwise by continually coming she will wear me out.’” 6 And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge *said;

7 now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them? 8 I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?”

EM BOUNDS – “Secret fervent believing prayer lies at the root of all personal godliness”

Barriers and Breakthroughs Pt 8

“Waiting gracefully”

Heb 6:11 We desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patienceinherit the promises.13 For when God made the promise to Abraham, since He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, 14 saying, “I will surely bless you and I will surely multiply you.” 15 And so, having patiently waited, he obtained the promise.

FAITH IS THE BRIDGE BETWEEN THE TWO REALMS OF TRUTH

THE WAIT COMES IN DURING THE PROCESS OR APPLICATION OF WHAT IS SPIRITUAL REALITY… WHO WE ARE IN CHRIST.

YOU CAN WAIT GRACEFULLY OR IMPATIENTLY…

THERE IS A WAY TO WAIT THAT WILL SHORTEN THE TIME YOU HAVE TO WAIT AND ENABLE YOU TO ENJOY LIFE WHILE YOU WAIT.

THE BEST WAITER IS THE ONE WHO IS CONTENT!

Phil 4:11 Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.

AMP I have learned to be content [and self-sufficient through Christ, satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or uneasy] regardless of my circumstances.

1 Tim 6:8 If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content.

6 But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment.

AMP godliness actually is a source of (immense profit) great gain when accompanied by contentment [that contentment which comes from a sense of inner confidence based on the sufficiency of God].

CONTENT MEANS; WITHOUT COVETOUSNESS!

A PERSON WHO IS CONTENT IS INWARDLY SUFFICIENT…

YOU’RE GROUNDED ON WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST!

TO COVET MEANS; YOU HAVE RESTED YOUR HOPES FOR HAPPINESS ON HAVING A PARICULAR THING

HOW DID PAUL LEARN TO BE INWARDLY SUFFICIENT?

Phil 1:19 for I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, according to my earnest expectation and hope.

EXPECTATION & HOPE GRK MEANS: INTENSE ANTICIPATION

EXPECTATION IS THE FINAL STEP TO MANIFESTATION

2 Cor 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,

18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

LOOK MEANS: TO SPY OUT, TO EXAMINE, TO CLOSELY CONSIDER

Giving yourself to prayer 2

“Humbling yourself in prayer”

NAS Ps 109:4 In return for my love they act as my accusers;

But I am in prayer.

KJV “But I give myself unto prayer”

Acts 6:4 But we will give (Devote) ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

THE ROOT OF ALL FAILURE IS PRAYER FAILURE

Acts 2:42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

GOD IS DEPENDENT UPON THE PRAYERS OF BELIEVERS

Ezek 36:36 Then the nations which are left all around you shall know that I, the Lord, have rebuilt the ruined places and planted what was desolate. I, the Lord, have spoken it, and I will do it.”

37 ‘Thus says the Lord God: “I will also let the house of Israel inquire of Me to do this for them: I will increase their men like a flock.

GOD’S WORD, WRITTEN OR PROPHETIC DOES NOT MEAN IT’S GOING TO HAPPEN AUTOMATICALLY.

THE LIFE OF JESUS AND WHAT HE TAUGHT.  Matt 6, 9

Zech 10:1 Ask rain from the Lord at the time of the spring rain—

The Lord who makes the storm clouds; And He will give them showers of rain, vegetation in the field to each man.

Daniel 9:1 In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of Median descent, who was made king over the kingdom of the Chaldeans— 2 in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, observed in the books the number of the years which was revealed as the word of the Lord to Jeremiah the prophet for the completion of the desolations of Jerusalem, namely, seventy years. 3 So I gave my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth and ashes. 4 I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed

1 Pet 5:6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time,

IMPORTANT KEY’S HERE TO DOING AND UNDERSTANDING THE WILL OF GOD.

YOU CANNOT DETERMINE OR MAKE THE SEASONS OF YOUR LIFE AND MINISTRY!

TO HUMBLE YOURSELF MEANS TO BE BROKEN BEFORE GOD; TO RECOGNIZE YOUR DEPENDENCE UPON GOD.  TO BE REPENTANT OF SINS OF COMMISSION AND SINS OF OMMISION

REPENTANCE IS NOT JUST SOMETHING YOU DO WHEN YOU GET SAVED BUT SOMETHING YOU DO ALL YOUR LIFE.

VS 20-27 AN ANGEL APPEARS TO DANIEL AND HE GETS REVELATION CONCERNING HOW LONG IT WOULD BE BEFORE THE MESSIAH COMES AND ALSO THE TRIBULATION AND INFO ON THE ANITCHRIST.

10:1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a message was revealed to Daniel, who was named Belteshazzar; and the message was true and one of great conflict, but he understood the message and had an understanding of the vision. 2 In those days, I, Daniel, had been mourning for three entire weeks.

12 Then he said to me, “Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on humbling yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to your words.

Ezra 1 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he sent a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying: 2 “Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, ‘The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and He has appointed me to build Him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

NOT ONLY IS THE UNSEEN REALM ACTIVATED WHEN WE PRAY BUT THINGS START MOVING IN THE NATURAL REALM AS WELL.

James 4:6 But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

Barriers and Breakthroughs Pt 7

“The enemy of breakthrough”

nas 2Sam. 5: 20 So David came to Baal-perazim, and defeated them there; and he said,  “The LORD has broken through my enemies before me like the breakthrough of waters.” Therefore he named that place Baal-perazim.

baal-perazim means “lord of the breakings through”

nas Phil 3:13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

press is the pursuit of a commitment.

One of the greatest enemies of commitment is dissapointment

jer 29:11 – an expected end

Prov. 23:18 for surely you have a future ahead of you; your hope will not cut off

Phil 1:20 according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I shall not be put to shame in anything

dissapointment is defined by websters as; the frustration of expectancy.

dissapointment is always a product of things not going the way you expect.

let’s just call adversity, things not going the way you expect.

if you don’t expect results then you are not going to invest the effort.

negative expectation left undelt with will becomes discouragement.

nlt Gal 6:9 So don’t get tired (weary) of doing what is good. don’t get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.

discouragement undealt with becomes dispare or hopelessness.

nas James 1:12 Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to those who love him.

this word LIFE; zoe

the greek word trial, peirasmos, a putting to proof (by experience of adversity)

nas James 1:2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

when you commit to the revealed will of god adversity is going to come your way to put to proof what you believe.

the grk word adversity (thilipsis) is translated – tribulation, trouble, persecution, hardship, burden, anguish, affliction and Pressure.

James 1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He himself does not tempt anyone.

James 1:2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,

James 1:4 And let endurance (patience) have its perfect result

this means be consitent in your stance on what you believe, the words you speak. be consistent.

don’t change to accomadate the adversity

James 1:4 and let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

THE FIRST THING YOU SHOULD DO WHEN YOU FEEL PRESSURE… UNDER ATTACK IS COUNT IT ALL JOY AND KNOW YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK.

Phil 3:13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind

all dissapointment is rooted in past experience.

Barriers and Breakthroughs Pt 6

“Commitment; To the body of Christ”

nas 2Sam. 5: 20 So David came to Baal-perazim, and defeated them there; and he said,  “The LORD has broken through my enemies before me like the breakthrough of waters.” Therefore he named that place Baal-perazim.

baal-perazim means “lord of the breakings through”

lack of commitment is at the root of every failure that people experience.

Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope (expectation) without wavering, for he who promised is faithful;

let us hold fast the commitments of faith that we have made.

whatever you have committed to when it comes to the revealed will of god in your life – hold fast to it.

Luke 8:15 “and the seed in the good soil, hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance.

24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, 25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the day drawing near.

commitment to the body of christ.  (specifically the local body god has called you to).

nas 1Cor 12:18 But now god has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as he desired  (Where He pleases)

(Voice)“God has meticulously put this body together; He placed each part in the exact place to perform the exact function He wanted.”

there is a place that it pleases god to put you and this is where we are to assemble… where we fit.

nlt Heb. 10:23 without wavering, let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. 24 Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds. 25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near.

Church is not an option or a matter of convienience.

we’re talking about commitment to the revealed will of god.

the leadership of a church has to be committed.

a major part of your supply is bringing people into the church.

eph 4 say’s, “the people are to be equipped for the work of the ministry.”

you cannot make a contribution to the increase of the body of christ and not experience increase in your personal life as well.

Phil 1:27 Standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel

Giving yourself to prayer

“The responsibility of prayer”

NAS Ps 109:4 In return for my love they act as my accusers; But I am in prayer.

KJV “But I give myself unto prayer”

Acts 6:4 But we will give (Devote) ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

IN ORDER FOR THIS TO TAKE PLACE WE HAVE TO HAVE A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE OPERATING IN DIFFERENT AREAS OF THE MINISTRY OF HELPS.

THE ROOT OF ALL FAILURE IS PRAYER FAILURE

PRAYER IS OUR #1 BUSINESS

Acts 2:42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

GOD IS WAITING ON US TO PRAY SOME THINGS IN…

PRAYER FOR PASTORS AND LEADERS IS SO VITAL

Barriers and Breakthroughs Pt 5

“Commitment; Key to success”

Nas 2Sam. 5: 20 So David came to Baal-perazim, and defeated them there; and he said,  “The LORD has broken through my enemies before me like the breakthrough of waters.” Therefore he named that place Baal-perazim.

WEBSTER – COMMIT MEANS; TO PLEDGE, OBLIGATE OR PROMISE ONESELF.

NOUN – The state of being obligated and emotionally impelled.

COMMITMENT IS THE KEYNOTE OF SUCCESS IN THE KINGDOM.

HOW DOES THE REVEALED WILL OF GOD COME TO YOU?  THE WORD!

Heb 3:1 “Consider Jesus the apostle and high priest of our confession”

Heb. 4:14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need.

WHEN YOU MAKE A COMMITMENT TO THE LORD THE GRACE OF GOD ENABLES YOU TO SUCCEED.

A SECOND WAY YOU RECEIVE THE REVEALED WILL OF GOD IS THROUGH THE MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

2 Cor 2:9 “Eye has not seen nor ear heard, and which have not entered the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those who love Him”

LACK OF COMMITMENT IS AT THE ROOT OF EVERY FAILURE THAT PEOPLE EXPERIENCE.

COMMITMENT IS NOT TRYING SOMETHING OUT OR LEAVING YOUR SELF A BACKDOOR OUT.

COMMITMENT IS THE SOULISH OUTWORKING OF A CONSECRATED HEART

IJESUS AS HIGH PRIEST. (Present day ministry)

Heb 6:20 Where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

Heb 7:1 For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the most high god, who met Abraham as he was returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, 2 to whom also Abraham apportioned a tenth part of all the spoils, was first of all, by the translation of his name, king of righteousness, and then also king of Salem, which is king of peace. 3 Without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the son of God, he abides a priest perpetually. 4 Now observe how great this man was to whom Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth of the choicest spoils.

THIS IS THE FIRST REFERENCE IN SCRIPTURE TO THE TITHE.

IF YOUR NOT A TITHER YOU’RE JUST STUCK WITH NATURAL EFFORT AND NO GRACE FROM THE HIGH PRIEST.

Heb 7:8 And in this case mortal men receive tithes, but in that case one receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives on.
