“The flesh & The eyes”
Ps 124:7 Our soul has escaped as a bird out of the snare of the trapper; The snare is broken and we have escaped. 8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
Ps 91:3 For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper
John 10:10 – the thief vs the good shepherd
nas 1John 2:14 I have written to you, fathers, because you know him who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of god abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
15 Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and also its lusts (CRAVINGS); but the one who does the will of god abides forever.
nlt 1John 2:15 Stop loving this evil world and all that it offers you, for when you love the world, you show that you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only the lust for physical pleasure, the lust for everything we see, and pride in our possessions. These are not from the Father. They are from this evil world.
AMP - Pretentious confidence in one’s resources or in the stability of earthly things.
Mess – wanting to appear important
the abundant life vs the pride of life.
ONE IS THE LIFE OF GOD THAT FLOWS THROUGH YOU, THE OTHER IS A LIFE CREATED OF SELF AND AFFECTS ONLY THE SELF.
the word pride means – alazoneia, from 213; braggadocio, (by implication) self-confidence:—boasting.
the word life means – bi÷oß bios, (literally) the present state of existence; by implication, the means of livelihood:—good, life, living.
1John 2:15 Do not love the world, nor the things in the world.
the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.
kjv Heb 4:15 for we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; But was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
there are only three areas where you can be tempted.
whenever you are tempted it falls into the context of one of these three areas
Gen 3:6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for food (lust of the flesh), and that it was a delight to the eyes (lust of the eye), and that the tree was desirable to make one wise (pride of life), she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.
Matt 4:1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And after he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he then became hungry. 3 And the tempter came
satan always knows what you are hungry for.
2Pet 1:3 seeing that his divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and excellence. 4 For by these he has granted to us his precious and magnificent promises, in order that by them you might become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.
when you are empty is when satan comes along.
Matt 4:3 And the tempter came and said to him, “if you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
whatever your hungry for is what your fruit becomes.
Matt 4:8 again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory;
(the lust of the eyes)
Matt 4:9 and he said to him, “all these things will I give you, if you fall down and worship me.”
