I Don’t Feel Like It

John 5:1-11

FAVOR – WHEN GOD ENGAGES IN UNEXPLAINABLE ACTIVITY THAT YOU DON’T DESERVE
GOD GIVES A INSTRUCTION,
THAT CREATS A EMOTION,
WE MAKE A DECISION,
THAT DETERMINS OUR CONDITION

3 AREAS OF EMOTIONS WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO OVERCOME

1. OVERCOME DISCOURAGEMENT FROM DISAPPOINTMENT
DISAPPOINTMENT FROM YOUR PAST PRODUCES DISCOURAGEMENT FOR YOUR PRESENT
2. OVERCOME ANGER FROM THE LACK OR ASSISTANCE
3. OVERCOME MISERY OF MISSED MOMENTS
THE WAY YOU GET OVER REGRET FROM YOU PAST IS BY CREATING AN AMAZING FUTURE

Overcoming Fear Pt 6

“How to stay calm”

FAITH AND HOPE… FEAR AND DREAD….

FEAR GIVES THE ENEMY AN ACCESS POINT INTO YOUR PATH.

FAITH GIVES GOD AN ACCESS POINT INTO YOUR PATH.

WHAT DO WE DO WITH FEAR?

  1. RESIST IT…
  2. REPLACE IT…

2 Cor 7:5 For even when we came into Macedonia our flesh had no rest, but we were afflicted on every side: conflicts without, fears within.

Isaiah 7:2 When it was reported to the house of David, saying, “The Arameans have camped in Ephraim,” his heart and the hearts of his people shook as the trees of the forest shake with the wind.

3 Then the Lord said to Isaiah, “Go out now to meet Ahaz, you and your son Shear-jashub, 4 and say to him, ‘Take care and be calm, have no fear and do not be fainthearted* because of these two stubs of smoldering firebrands, on account of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and the son of Remaliah.

FAITH NEVER BRAGS ON IT’S OPPONENT.

Isaiah 7:9 If you will not believe, Surely you shall not be established.”

THE SPIRIT OF FAITH COMES FROM AN ESTABLISHED HEART!

AN ESTABLISHED HEART KNOWS WHAT IT BELIEVES.

AN ESTABLISHED HEART DOESN’T FEAR WHEN AN EVIL REPORT COMES.

2 Chr 32:1 After these acts of faithfulness Sennacherib king of Assyria came and invaded Judah and besieged the fortified cities, and thought to break into them for himself.

6 He appointed military officers over the people and gathered them to him in the square at the city gate, and spoke encouragingly to them, saying,

7 “Be strong and courageous, do not fear or be dismayed because of the king of Assyria nor because of all the horde that is with him; for the one with us is greater than the one with him.

8 With him is only an arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people relied on the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

KJV And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

TO REST IS TO LEAN ON, RELY ON…. TO TRUST IN..

FOR EVERY TERROR THERE IS A TRUTH…

Psalm 112:7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.

8 His heart is established, he shall not be afraid,

Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed (Resting, leaning) on You, Because he trusts in You. 4 Trust in the Lord forever, For in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.

YLT An imagination supported Thou fortifiest peace–peace! For in Thee it is confident.

Love Out Loud Pt. 2

Song of Solomon 2:4 He has brought me to his banquet hall,

And his banner over me is love.

LOVING OTHERS FIRST BEGINS WITH LOVING GOD.

Romans 5:5 The love of god has been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit.

1 Pet 1:22 Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart, 23 for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.  (IT’S IN OUR DNA)

1 Cor 13:1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails;

13 But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.

1 John 4:16 We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17 By this, love is perfected with us

James 2:8 If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well.

John 13:34-35  “Love one another as I have loved you”

THE LOVE OF GOD GIVES, THE LOVE OF GOD MOVES, THE LOVE OF GOD CAUSES US TO REACH OUT AND HELP.

1 Cor 13:8 “It cannot fail”

HUMAN LOVE CAN FAIL!

Gal 5:6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love.

YOUR FAITH WON’T WORK IF YOU CAN’T WALK IN LOVE.

Hebrews 11:1 “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”

2 Cor 5:14 For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; 15 and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.

Gal 2:20… The life I live I live by faith…

1 John 3:16 We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? 18 Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.

LOVE “AGAPE” IS NOT EMOTION… IT’S DEMONSTRATED IN GIVING.

WHEN YOU HAVE FEELINGS OF LOVE “AGAPE” THEY ARE NOT FLESHLY, “SOULISH”… THEY ARE SPIRITUAL.

THE LOVE OF GOD IS A FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT AND IT IS IN US. Gal 5:22

HOW DO YOU DEVELOP IT?  YOU HAVE TO PRACTICE IT.

Rom 12:9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor;

Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her,

Matt 5:43 You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Overcoming Fear Pt 5

“Resting in the midst of fear”

Heb 11:6 And without faith it is (DIFFICUTL) impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

Gen 15:1 After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not fear, Abram, I am a shield to you; Your reward shall be very great.”  (exceeding great reward)

FAITH AND HOPE… FEAR AND DREAD….

Job 3:25 For what I fear comes upon me, And what I dread befalls me.

YLT  For a fear I feared and it meeteth me, And what I was afraid of doth come to me.

FEAR GIVES IT AN ENTRY POINT INTO YOUR PATH.

FAITH GIVES GODS BLESSINGS AN ACCESS POINT INTO YOUR PATH.

NLT What I always feared has happened to me. What I dreaded has come true.

FEARS MUST NOT BE TOLERATED.

WHAT DO WE DO WITH FEAR?

  1. RESIST IT…

  1. REPLACE IT…

2 Cor 7:5 For even when we came into Macedonia our flesh had no rest, but we were afflicted on every side: conflicts without, fears within.

YOUR FLESH CANNOT REST WHEN THERE IS FEAR WITHIN.

IF YOUR SPIRIT MAN COULD NEVER BE DEPLEATED, IT WOULD NOT HAVE TO BE RENEWED.

IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO REST ON THE INSIDE, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REST ON THE OUTSIDE.

FEAR WILL KEEP YOU FROM RESTING INSIDE.

Forgiven People, Forgive People

MATT. 18:21-35

UNFORGIVENESS BLOCKS THE FLOW OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD IN YOUR LIFE

1. THROW THE CALCULATIONS AND THE REGULATIONS OUT THE WINDOW

IT WAS LOVE THAT MADE JESUS GO TO THE CROSS, AND IT WAS COMPASSION THAT MADE JESUS DIE FOR OUR SINS

2. JESUS IS BOTH THE FORGIVENESS & FREEDOM THAT WE NEED

 LUKE 4:18

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,

3. FORGIVE QUICKLY & OFTEN

MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. “FORGIVENESS IS NOT AN OCCASIONAL HABIT: IT IS A PERMANENT ATTITUDE. WE MUST DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN THE CAPACITY TO FORGIVE. HE WHO IS DEVOID OF THE POWER TO FORGIVE IS DEVOID OF THE POWER TO LOVE”

4. YOU CAN BE BITTER OR ASK GOD TO MAKE YOU BETTER

PSALM 119:165 Great peace have those who love your law,
and nothing can make them stumble.

5 ALL OF LIFE IS A HEART ISSUE

PROVERBS 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.

Be A Sweetheart

Matt. 12:33 NASV“Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for the tree is known by its fruit.

Matt. 12:34 “You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak what is good? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart.

Matt. 12:35 “The good man brings out of hisgood treasure what is good; and the evil man brings out of hisevil treasure what is evil.

Matt. 12:36 “But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment.

Matt. 12:37 “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Matt. 12:35 message A good person produces good deeds and words season after season. An evil person is a blight on the orchard.

Matt. 12:36 Let me tell you something: Every one of these careless words is going to come back to haunt you. There will be a time of Reckoning. Words are powerful; take them seriously.

Psa. 119:11 NIV I have hidden your word in my heartthat I might not sin against you.

Get a grip on your lip.

But first, get a hold of your heart!

James 3:2 nkjv For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, heisa perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

James 3:3 nkjv Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body.

James 3:4 Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires.

James 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!

You can really learn a lot about yourself by listening to yourself.

Matt. 12:37 messageWords can be your salvation. Words can also be your damnation.”

Psa. 139:23 Nkjv Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties;

Psa. 139:24 And see if there is anywicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.

Psa. 139:23 NIV Search me,God, and know my heart;test me and know my anxious Psa. 139:24See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

thoughts.

Psa. 139:24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Prov. 4:23 NIVAbove all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Prov. 4:24 Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips.

Things that cause our heart to be hard and not ‘sweet’…

  1. Offense/unforgiveness

Psa. 55:12 NIV If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were rising against me, I could hide.

Psa. 55:13 But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend,

Psa. 55:14 with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowshipat the house of God,as we walked about among the worshipers.

Phil. 3:13 message Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus.

Phil. 3:14 I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.

“Some things get broken and can never be put back exactly the same.  Yet God can make all things new.”

Luke 9:62 But Jesus said to him, “No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

  1. A Negative and a constant complainer

Phil 2:14-15 AMP Do all things without grumbling and faultfinding and complaining [against God] and questioning and doubting [among yourselves],

Phil 1:15 That you may show yourselves to be blameless and guileless, innocent without blemish (faultless, unrebukable) in the midst of a perverse and crooked generation [spiritually perverted and perverse]. Among who you are seen as bright lights (stars or beacons shining out clearly) in the [dark world].

  1. Guilt/condemnation

Rom. 8:1 NLT So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus

1 John 3:20 NKJV For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.

1 John 3:21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God.

Religion points to your sin, wags it finger and says shame on you.  Jesus welcomes you with open arms and says, ‘shame on me.’

Gal. 5:14 NKJV For all the law is fulfilled in one word, evenin this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Gal. 5:15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!

  1. Envy/compare

Rom. 12:15 NIV Rejoice with those who rejoice

Be different, be nice, smile, I promise it will change your life!

Love Out Loud

John 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

35 By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

LOVE IS THE BANNER WE ARE TO CARRY!

NAPOLEON BONAPARTE

I know men; and I tell you that Jesus Christ is no mere man.  Between Him and every person in the world there is no possible term of comparison.  Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and I have founded empires.  But on what did we rest the creations of our genius? Upon force.  Jesus Christ founded His empire upon love; and at this hour millions of men would die for Him.

CRAZY LOVE – GOD DEMONSTRATED HIS LOVE FOR US!

Rom 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Eph 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; 2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

WE ARE DESIGNED TO BE AN EXPRESSION OF GOD’S LOVE!

GOD COMMUNICATES THROUGH PEOPLE.

WE ARE THE MEANS, METHOD, OBJECT, THE DELIEVERY VEHICLE.

JESUS REFERING TO SIGNS OF THE LAST DAYS

Matt 24:12 Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold.

TPT There will be such an increase of sin and lawlessness that those whose hearts once burned with passion for God and others will grow cold.

PAUL

2 Tim 3:1 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving

PETER

1 Pet 4:7 The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer. 8 Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.

2 Cor 5:14 For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; 15 and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.

TPT 2 cor 5:14 For it is Christ’s love that fuels our passion and motivates us,

Mess 2 Cor 5:13 If I acted crazy, I did it for God; if I acted overly serious, I did it for you. 14 Christ’s love has moved me to such extremes. His love has the first and last word in everything we do.

LOVE IS THE FOUNDATION FOR SERVICE

1 Cor 16:14 Let all that you do be done in love.

Gal 5:13 For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

14 For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

1 Tim 1:5 But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.

Overcoming Fear pt. 4

“Identifying Fear”

Mark 4:35 On that day, when evening came, He *said to them, “Let us go over to the other side.”

36 Leaving the crowd, they *took Him along with them in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were with Him. 37 And there *arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. 38 Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they *woke Him and *said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”

39 And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm.

40 And He said to them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

41 They became very much afraid and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”

2 Cor 4:13 But having the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed, therefore I spoke,” we also believe, therefore we also speak,

2 Tim 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

THE SCRIPTURES TALK ABOUT, NO FAITH, LITTLE FAITH AND GREAT FAITH.

THE SAME THING IS TRUE ABOUT FEAR.  THERE CAN BE A LITTLE FEAR, A LOT OF FEAR AND ALL OUT TERROR,

PANIC ATTACKS ARE FEAR BASED!

IF YOU ARE LEAD BY FEAR YOU ARE GOING TO BE LEAD INTO DEATH AND DESRUCTION.

THERE ARE PARENTS WHO WON’T LET THEIR CHILDREN HAVE ANY SOCIAL INTERACTION WITH OTHER KIDS OR SOCIAL EVENTS BECAUSE OF FEAR

PEOPLE WHO TRY TO CONTROL ARE DOING IT OUT OF FEAR.

PEOPLE CAN GET  HYPER SPIRITUAL ABOUT USING MEDICINE OR DOCTORS.

RECOGNIZE WHEN FEAR IS IN THE PLACE OF FAITH.

Rom 10:17 faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of god

TAKE TIME TO FIND OUT WHAT’S IN YOUR HEART.

10:10 With the heart man believes, with the mouth confession is made.
