Overcoming discouragement Pt 2

Reaching

COURAGE; THE MENTAL OR MORAL STRENGTH TO VENTURE; THE ABILITY TO PERSEVERE IN DANGER, FEAR OR DIFFICULTY.

IT IS LEARNED BEHAVIOR, IT IS DEVELOPED WHEN ONE BEGINS TO MOVE BEYOND THEIR FEARS TO EMBRACE THEIR DESTINY.

MARK TWAIN; COURAGE IS NOT THE ABSENCE OF FEAR.  IT IS RESISTANCE TO FEAR.  MASTERY OF FEAR.

CHANGING YOUR FOCUS CAN CHANGE YOUR FEELINGS.

DISCOURAGEMENT CAN CREATE A SEASON OF INGRATITUDE IN LIFE

WHEN YOU ARE DISCOURAGED YOU DON’T MIND YOUR ENEMY WINNING.

SCRIPTURAL EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE WHO ENTERED SEASONS OF GREAT DISPARE.

IN Psalm 73 WE SAW THE FEELINGS OF ASAPH DURING A TIME OF DISCOURAGEMENT.

73:17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I understood their end.

77:1 My voice rises to God, and I will cry aloud; My voice rises to God, and He will hear me. 2 In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord

ONE OF THE KEYS TO OVERCOMING DISCOURAGEMENT IS LEARNING TO REACH.

DESPERATION CAN LEAD TO DESTINY.

DISCOURAGEMENT LAUNCHES WITHIN YOU A PASSION FOR CHANGE

In the night my hand was stretched out without weariness; My soul refused to be comforted. 3 When I remember God, then I am disturbed; When I sigh, then my spirit grows faint. 4 You have held my eyelids open; I am so troubled that I cannot speak. 5 I have considered the days of old, The years of long ago. 6 I will remember my song in the night; I will meditate with my heart, And my spirit ponders: 7 Will the Lord reject forever? And will He never be favorable again? 8 Has His lovingkindness ceased forever? Has His promise come to an end forever? 9 Has God forgotten to be gracious, Or has He in anger withdrawn His compassion? 10 Then I said, “It is my grief,

11 I will remember the works of the Lord: Surely I will remember thy wonders of old. 12 I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.

13 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

THERE ARE THINGS WE NEED TO DO WHEN WE GET DISCOURAGED

  1. RE-EXAMINE THE REASONS FOR YOUR BELIEFS.

DURING DISCOURAGEMENT IT IS IMPORTANT TO ASSESS WHAT YOU BELIEVE

YOUR BELIEF SYSTEM HAS TO CHANGE BEFORE YOU CAN CHANGE WHAT’S HAPPENING IN YOUR LIFE.

WHEN YOU GO THROUGH SEASONS OF DISCOURAGEMENT REASSESS EVERYTHING.

  • WHY DO I BELIEVE THE BIBLE?

  • WHAT BROUGHT ME TO THIS PLACE OF PERSUASION?

WHEN YOU CHOOSE TO BELIEVE IT PRODUCES A CONFIDENCE.

WHEN YOU ARE DISCOURAGED, RE-EXAMIN WHAT YOU BELIEVE.

  • WHY DID YOU EVER CHOOSE TO BELIEVE GOD IN THE FIRST PLACE?

  • WHAT WERE YOUR OTHER OPTIONS?

YOUR BELIEF IN GOD AND IN HIS WORD PRODUCES A PURPOSE ON THE INSIDE OF YOU.

BELIEVERS BACKSLIDE AND GET AWAY FROM GOD DURING TIMES OF DISCOURAGEMENT.

EXAMINE YOURSELF WHEN YOU ARE IN A SEASON OF DISCOURAGEMENT

2 Cor 13:5 Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?

Healing and Health Scriptures

Psalm 103
Bless the LORD O my soul,
And all that is within me bless His Holy Name
Bless the LORD O my soul,
And forget not all His kindnesses.
He forgave all my sins.
He healed all my diseases.
He redeemed my life from the pit.
He crowns me with chesed and mercy.
He satisfies me with good so that my youth is renewed as the eagle.

Isaiah 53:3-6, 10 – (Hebrew to English translation, Jerusalem)
He was despised and rejected of men;
a man of pains, and acquainted with sickness:
and we hid as it were our faces from Him;
He was despised, and [they] esteemed Him not.

But in truth He has borne our (my) sicknesses and endured our (my) pains;
yet we did esteem Him stricken smitten of God (Elohim), and afflicted.
But He was wounded because of our (my) transgressions,
bruised because of our (my) iniquities:
His sufferings were that we (I) might have Shalom,
and by His injury we are (I am) healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way;
and Et Yehovah has caused the iniquity of us all to fall upon Him…

  1. It pleased Et Yehovah to crush Him by disease;
    if His soul shall consider it a recompense for guilt,
    He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days,
    and the purpose of Et Yehovah shall prosper in His hand.
    He shall see the travail of His soul, He shall be sated with seeing:…
    He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Matthew 8:16, 17
When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils:
and he cast out the spirits with His word, and healed all that were sick:
That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

1 Peter 2:24 KJV
Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree,
that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness:
by whose stripes ye were (I was) healed.

1Th. 5:23, 24 KJV (Personalized)
And the very God of Shalom sanctifies me wholly;
My whole spirit and soul and body
He preserves blameless unto the coming of our Lord Yeshua HaMashiah.
Faithful is He that called me, who also does it.

Exodus 15:26
…I Am Yehovah-Rofeqah
(I Am Yehovah-Your Healer)

Exodus 23:25 KJV
And ye shall serve the LORD (Yehovah) your God (Elohim),
and He shall bless thy bread, and thy water;
and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee….
the number of thy days I will fulfil.

Psalm 107:20 KJV
He sent His word, and healed me, and delivered me from destructions.

Psalm 91:1 ArtScrolls, 91:2-13 ASV (Adapted and Personalized)
1. Whoever sits in the refuge (secret place) of The Most High (Elyon) shall abide
in the shadow of Shaddai…

2 I say of Jehovah, He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God(Elyon), in whom I trust.
3 For He delivers me from the snare of the fowler,
And from the deadly pestilence.
4 He covers me with His pinions,
And under His wings I take refuge:
His truth is my shield and buckler.
5 I am not afraid for the terror by night,
Nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6 For the pestilence that walketh in darkness,
Nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7 A thousand shall fall at my side,
And ten thousand at my right hand;
But it shall not come nigh me.
8 Only with my eyes shalt I behold,
And see the reward of the wicked.
9 For thou, O Jehovah, art my refuge!
I have made the Most High (Elyon) my habitation;
10 There shall no evil befall me,
Neither shall any plague come nigh my tent.
11 For He gives His angels charge over me,
To keep me in all my ways.
12 They bear me up in their hands,
Lest I dash my foot against a stone.
13 I shall tread upon the lion and adder:
The young lion and the serpent shalt I trample under foot.

Therefore my Heavenly Father says to me:

14 Because you have set your love upon Me, therefore will I deliver you:
I will set you on high, because you have known My Name.
15 You shall call upon Me, and I will answer you;
I will be with you in trouble:
I will deliver you, and honor you.
16 With long life will I satisfy you,
And show you My salvation.

Prov. 4:20-22 KJV
My son, attend to My words; incline thine ear unto My sayings.
Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
For they are life unto those that find them, and health (medicine) to all their flesh.

Deut. 30:19
I call heaven and earth to record this day …,
that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing:
therefore choose life, that both you and your seed may live:

“I choose life and blessing.”

Prov. 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Therefore I say, “I choose life and blessing.”

According to Deuteronomy 28, all sickness and disease is under the curse.
But according to Galatians 3:13:

Gal 3:13, 14
Christ hath redeemed me from the curse of the law, being made a curse for me:
for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ;
that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Psalm 89:34 (KJV)
My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of My lips.

God Lives in Me

Romans 8:11
The Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in me,
He that raised up Christ from the dead also quickens my mortal body
by His Spirit that dwells in me.

Psalm 119:25 KJV
…quicken Thou me according to Thy Word.

1John 4:4
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them:
because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.

1Cor. 3:16,17 KJV
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? …
the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

1 Cor 6:19,20 ASV
Or know ye not that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you,
which ye have from God? and ye are not your own;
for ye were bought with a price: glorify God therefore in your body.

2 Cor 6:16 KJV
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols?
for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said,
I will dwell in them, and walk in them;
and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

“The Greater One lives in me.
I am the temple of the Holy Spirit.
I am the temple of the Living God.
The temple of God is holy; no sickness or disease allowed.
God dwells in me.
God walks in me.
Where I walk, God walks.
He is My God.
I am His very own child.”

Strong Bones

Prov. 3:7, 8 KJV
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Psalm 34:19, 20
Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.

My Confession
He has given His angels charge over me lest I dash my foot against a stone.
I will not fall.
I fear, reverence, hold in awe, Et Yehovah;

I depart from evil.
I walk in divine health.
My bones are strong.
Not one of them will ever be broken.

THE PURPOSE FOR FAITH

ATTACK ANY PROBLEM WITH THE WORD

Psalm 107:20 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the adversary

Col 1:13 For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Gal 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us.

Prov 22:17 Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise, And apply your mind to my knowledge; 18 For it will be pleasant if you keep them within you, That they may be ready on your lips. 19 So that your trust may be in the Lord,  (HAVE FAITH IN GOD)

Mark 11:22 And Jesus answered saying to them, “Have faith in God.

HOW DO WE LIVE THE LIFE OF FAITH? WALK THE WALK OF FAITH?

23 Truly I say to you, whoever SAYS to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he SAYS is going to happen, it will be granted him.

24 Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.

Vs 23 IS NOT PRAYER

Matt 12:34 For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart.

Psalm 45:1 My heart overflows with a good theme. 2 … My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

Romans, THE 4TH Chapter TEACHES IN LIGHT OF ABRAHAM’S EXPERIENCE THAT FAITH SPEAKS, CALLING THOSE THINGS WHICH BE NOT AS THOUGH THEY WERE.

WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR LIFE… YOU ARE IN CONTROL OR OUT OF CONTROL!

Prov 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

CONFESSION BUILDS THE ROAD OVER WHICH FAITH CARRIES IT’S MIGHTY CARGO

FAITH NEVER RISES HIGHER THAN YOUR CONFESSION.

2 Cor 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written I believe therefore I spoke.  We believe therefore we speak

Overcoming discouragement Pt 1

DISCOURAGEMENT CAN BECOME THE BIRTHPLACE FOR TRAGEDY.

  • DISCOURAGEMENT BLINDS US TO GOOD THINGS.

  • DISCOURAGEMENT LINKS US WITH WRONG PEOPLE.  IT CREATES A BOND WITH WRONG PEOPLE

  • DISCOURAGEMENT IS A SEED FOR LOSS…

DISCOURAGEMENT IS THE FEELING

WE FEEL LIKE WE’VE SOWN MORE SEEDS THAN WE’VE REAPED A HARVEST.

Galatians 6:9 Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.

WE GET DISCOURAGE WHEN WE FEEL LIKE REACHING HAS NOT PRODUCED A REWARD.  OUR WORK HAS NOT BEEN RECOGNIZED ETC

Prov 13:12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But desire fulfilled is a tree of life.

DISCOUAGEMENT IS A LOSS OF SIGNIFICANCE.

  • YOU FEEL DUMB,

  • YOU TRUSTED SOMEONE YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE TRUSTED.

  • YOU WASTED TIME THAT YOU FEEL LIKE IS GONE

  • YOU FEEL LIKE YOU’VE SET GOALS THAT ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO REACH

ABRAHAM LINCOLN SAID, “SUCCESS IS THE ABILITY TO GO FROM FAILURE TO FAILURE WITHOUT LOOSING YOUR ENTHUSIASM”

SCRIPTURAL EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE WHO ENTERED SEASONS OF GREAT DISPARE.

MICAH THE PROPHET, “The best of men is like a briar” 7:4

DAVID, WHY SO DOWNCAST OH MY SOUL?

WHEN YOU ARE DISCOURAGED YOU DON’T MIND YOUR ENEMY WINNING.

Psalm 73:2 But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped. 3 For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. 4 For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm. 5 They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.

7 Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish. 8 They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily. 9 They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walks through the earth.

12 Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches. 13 Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency. 14 For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.

16 When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;

17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I understood their end.

18 Surely thou didst set them in slippery places:

19 How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment!

they are utterly consumed with terrors.

21 Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.

22 So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.

25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. 26 My flesh and my heart fail: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever.

28 But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord God my refuge,

Psalm 77:1 My voice rises to God, and I will cry aloud; My voice rises to God, and He will hear me. 2 In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord

Rom 8:32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

YOU CANNOT SEPARTE GOD’S LOVE FROM HIS GOODNESS AND BLESSING.

GOD’S GOODNESS AND BLESSING ARE A THEME FROM GEN TO REV.

Psalm 34:8 O taste and see that the Lord is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!

Psalm 84:11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

Psalm 145:9 The Lord is good to all, And His mercies are over all His works.

Psalm 31:19 How great is Your goodness, Which You have stored up for those who fear You, Which You have wrought for those who take refuge in You, Before the sons of men!

NLT How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world.

DEFINITIONS OF LOVE; TO FAVOR, TO TAKE PLEASURE AND DELIGHT IN, TO ENJOY DOING GOOD FOR, TO PREFER THEM.

IT’S IMPORTANT TO CULTIVATE THE HABIT OF SAYING, “GOOD THINGS HAPPEN TO ME”

MIRACLES ARE BASED ON HIS PERFECTION AND MY RECEIVING.

WE ARE TO BELIEVE THE FATHERS LOVE IS SO GOOD HE WANTS TO LAVISH US, WITHOUT RESERVE, POUR HIS BLESSINGS ON US.

Psalm 27:10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me,

But the Lord will take me up.

13 I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living.

14 Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage;

Yes, wait for the Lord.

JESUS IS THE GOOD SHEPHERD

WE CAN LIMIT THE REACH OF HIS LOVE BY A LACK OF UNDERSTANDING AND LACK OF FAITH.

HIS LOVE ACTUALLY MAKES OUR FAITH LIMITLESS

The Protection of God

 Psalm 91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!3 For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper And from the deadly pestilence.

4 He will cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark. 5 You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Or of the arrow that flies by day;

6 Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon. 7 A thousand may fall at your side And ten thousand at your right hand, But it shall not approach you.

8 You will only look on with your eyes And see the recompense of the wicked. 9 For you have made the Lord, my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place. 10 No evil will befall you, Nor will any plaguecome near your tent.

14 Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name

16 With a long life I will satisfy him And let him see My salvation.”

3 PRINCIPLES TO DRAW FROM IN THIS PSALM

  1. GOD IS A GOD OF PROTECTION

HE IS A SHELTER… A REFUGE… A FORTRESS

TPT – 1 When you sit enthroned under the shadow of Shaddai, you are hidden in the strength of God Most High.

2 He’s the hope that holds me and the Stronghold to shelter me,

the only God for me, and my great confidence.

3 He will rescue you from every hidden trap of the enemy, and he will protect you from false accusation and any deadly curse.

4 His massive arms are wrapped around you, protecting you.

You can run under his covering of majesty and hide.

His arms of faithfulness are a shield keeping you from harm.

Vs 10 When we live our lives within the shadow of God Most High,

our secret hiding place, we will always be shielded from harm.

HE DELIEVERS (3,14)  HE COVERS (4)  HE IS OUR DWELLING PLACE (9)

MSG Vs 1 You who sit down in the High God’s presence, spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow,

Psalm 32:7 You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble;

You surround me with songs of deliverance.

Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the defense of my life;

  1. WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO USE OUR FAITH.

Psalm 91:2 I will say to “of” the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,

My God, in whom I trust!”

MSG – Vs 2 Say this: “God, you’re my refuge. I trust in you and I’m safe!”

FAITH IS NOT JUST BELIEVING BUT IT INCLUDES SAYING.

1 Cor 5:7 For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed.

1 Cor 10:16 Is not the cup of blessing which we bless a sharing in the blood of Christ? Is not the bread which we break a sharing in the body of Christ?

  1. PROTECTION FROM PESTILENCE AND PLAGUES WERE INCLDED IN THE PROVISION OF GOD

3 For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper

And from the deadly pestilence.

BASIC “He will keep you safe from wasting diseases

GN “He will keep you safe from all hidden dangers and from all deadly diseases”

BECK “From the deadly plague”

TPT He will rescue you from every hidden trap of the enemy,

and he will protect you from false accusation and any deadly curse.

5-6 You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Or of the arrow that flies by day; Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness,

TPT 6 Don’t fear a thing! Whether by night or by day, demonic danger will not trouble you.

TPT 10 we will always be shielded from harm. How then could evil prevail against us or disease infect us?

SALVATION INCLUDES; PROVISION, PROTECTION, HEALING, DELIVERANCE, AND RESTORATION.

TPT 16 You will be satisfied with a full life and with all that I do for you. For you will enjoy the fullness of my salvation!”

YOUR INNER PORTRAIT (REJECTION AND ACCEPTANCE)

-Dr. Shirley Christian-

“and in Him you have been made complete.” (Col 2:10)

“Thus he chose us in Christ before the world was made to be holy and faultless before him in love, marking us out for himself beforehand, to be adopted sons, through Jesus Christ. Such was his purpose and good pleasure,”
Eph 1:4-5

“And it is in him that we have received our heritage, marked out beforehand as we were, under the plan of the One who guides all things as he decides by his own will,”
Ephesians 1 :11

For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; (Romans 8:29)

Gen 37:7 beginning in verse 4,  And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.  And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more. 6And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed: 7For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.

WHAT IS REJECTION:   Lack of acceptance and approval–if it takes other’s  acceptance to build us up, then their rejection will devastate us. Rejection underminds our sense of significance and self esteem.

Eccl 7:21 Also, do not take seriously all words which are spoken, so that you will not hear your servant cursing you.

How did Jesus handle rejection: Matthew 13:57

And they were offended by him. by him. But Jesus told them, “A prophet is without honor only in his hometown and in his own home.” …

John 8:14 I know where I came from and where I am going

John 8:29 The one whosent me is with me; he has not left me alone …… I always do what pleases him … And he that sent me is with me:the Father has not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him….

“ For my father and my mother have forsaken me, But the LORD will take me up.” Ps 27:10

Ps 118:8 middle verse in the bible. It is better to trust in God than trust in man.

Jeremiah 29:11 New International Version (NIV)

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

2. He holds your hand

Isaiah 41:10 Do Not Fear, For I Am With You; Do Not Be Dismayed, For I Am Your God. I Will Strengthen You And Help You; I Will Uphold You With My Righteous Right Hand.

3. When God begins, he is already finished!

“Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is no one like Me,10Declaring the end from the beginning,  And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, ‘My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure’ Isa 46:9-10

4. Keep at the forefront of your mind:

The devil’s purpose is always to destroy the inner portrait of ourselves in Christ. If what you see now is not what you know and the inner portrait of yourself, then it is onlytemporary.

(Numbers 23:19) God is not a man, that he should lie, Neither the son of man, that he should repent: Hath he said, and will he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and will he not make it good?

5, What are you speaking?

2 Cor 4:14, I believed there fore I spoke

John 23 I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.

First step in overcoming rejection is of course complete forgiveness.

Second, experience the Father’s love; He is the source.

Meditate on who you are until the inner portrait is so secure that the devil can’t change it.

“let me give you a new command: love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples – when they see the love you have for each other.”

LUKE 4: 18:19

Gods Spirit is on me; he’s chosen me to preach the message of good news to the poor, sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to set the burdened and battered free, to announce, this is Gods year to act!

MARK 2:1-12 (MSG)

5 WAYS TO BE ABOUT THAT LIFE

  1. BE HONEST

– LIFE IS TO SHORT TO HIDE AND CARRY PAIN FOR TO LONG

– ONLY IN THE REAL JESUS CAN YOU FIND THE REAL YOU,
AND WHEN PEOPLE SEE THE REAL YOU, THEY WILL SEE THE REAL JESUS

    1. BE PREPARED

           Ephesians 6:13-18 (MSG)

  1. LOVE WITH URGENCY

          – TAKE A CHANCE ON SOMEBODY BECAUSE SOMEBODY TOOK A
CHANCE ON YOU

  1. BE PLANTED

          – YOU HAVE TO REACH DOWN SO GOD CAN PULL YOU UP

JOHN 15:4-5

“Live in me. Make your home in me just as I do in you. In the same way that a branch can’t bear grapes by itself but only by being joined to the vin, you cant bear fruit unless you are joined with me.

PSALM 1:3

GOD DOES NOT SHARE THE SPOTLIGHT

  1. CHOOSE TO SEE WHAT SOME HAVE CHOSEN TO IGNORE

    -THERE IS OPPORTUNITIES IN THE SHADOWS IF WE CHOOSE TO SEE THEM

THE WORK OF GOD

4 KEYS FOR HIS SERVANTS

BOLDNESS – COMPASSION –  RIGHTEOUSNESS – HUNGER

OUR DESIRES ARE RIGHT, BUT MOVEMENT IS THE KEY!

Where Boldness Comes From:

   1- Knowing God

   2- Compassion for others

Daniel 11:32   But the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits

CONNECTING WITH THE SOURCE MAKES YOU CONFIDENT IN LIFE

Proverbs 28:1– the wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion

MY BOLDNESS IS PRODUCED IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD

2nd Key: Compassion

Compassion is defined by Merriam-Webster’s dictionary as “sympathetic consciousness of others’ distress together with a desire to alleviate it.

Syonyms: Pity, sympathy, empathy

Antonyms: callous, hard-hearted, indifferent,

John 3:16  For God so loved the world…that He gave His only son…

COMPASSION GAVE GOD MOTIVATION FOR THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE

Boldness comes from prayer

Acts 4:29 Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness!

**Boldness to DO God’s work comes from KNOWING GOD and from HAVING COMPASSION

RIGHTEOUSNESS HAS 2 PURPOSES FOR THE SERVANT

1- A weapon for the Servant against the devil’s condemnation

2- Puts God’s servants at ease- – we are enough.  We’ve been given righteous status.

Doing God’s work puts us in a war zone. He sends us out as sheep in the midst of wolves.  Therefore, to walk with endurance, we must know our righteous nature.

IN ORDER FOR COMPASSION AND BOLDNESS TO FLOW, YOU MUST BE RELEASED FROM LAW!

HUNGER = OPPOSITE OF COMPLACENCY

MATTHEW 8:20– And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head
JOHN 4:34  “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.

AMOS PROPHESIED TO A COMPLACENT SOCIETY WHO HAD LOST ALL COMPASSION, THEY WERE BOLD FOR THE WRONG THINGS, AND THEY LOST THEIR RIGHTEOUS CAUSE

Amos 1:3  This is what the Lord says: “The peole of Damascus (Syria) have sinned again and again, and I will not forget it.  I will not let them go unpunished any longer!  They beat down my people in Gilead as grain is threshed with threshing sledges of iron.

Amos 1:6 The people of Gaza (Philistia) have sinned…They sent my people into exile, selling them as slaves in Edom.

Amos 1:9  The people of Tyre have sinned….the broke their treaty of brotherhood with Israel, selling whole villages as slaves to Edom.

Amos 1:11 The people of Edom…chased down their relatives, the Israelites, with swords.  They showed them no mercy and were unrelenting in their anger.

Amos 1:13 The people of Ammon…attacked Gilead to extend their borders, and committed cruel crimes, ripping open pregnant women with their swords

Amos 2:1 The people of Moab…have desecrated the tomb of Edom’s king and burned his bones to ashes.

Amos 2:4  Judah has rejected the laws of the LORD, refusing to obey him.

Amos 2:6 Israel…has perverted justice by selling honest people for silver and poor people for a pair of sandals. They trample helpless people in the dust and deny justice to those who are oppressed.  Both father and son sleep with the same woman, corrupting my holy name.  At their religious festivals, they lounge around in clothing stolen from their debtors.  In the house of their god, they present offerings of wine purchased with stolen money.

Amos 2:11-12   I chose some of your sons to be prophets and others to be Nazarites.  Can you deny this, my people of Israel? Asks the Lord.  But you caused the Nazarites to sin by making them drink your wine, and you said to my prophets, “shut up!”

God says: you’re not walking with me!!!! You’re going the wrong direction!  Amos 3:3 Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction?  WERE NOT IN AGREEMENT!

GOD IS FIERCE in his rebuke of these people!  Plagues-  trying to get them to repent-  suffered long time….

Amos 5:7 Wicked people! You twist justice, making it a bitter pill for the poor and oppressed.  Righteousness and fair play are meaningless fictions to you

Amos 5:10 -11  How you hate honest judges!  You despise people who tell the truth!  You trample the poor and steal what little they have through taxes and unfair rent.  Therefore, you will never live in the beautiful stone houses you are building.  You will never drink wine from the lush vineyards you are planting.  For I know the vast number of your sins and rebellions.  You oppress good people by taking bribes and deprive the poor of justice in the courts.  So those who are wise will keep quiet, for it is an evil time.

Amos 8:4-6  You rob the poor and trample the needy!  You measure out your grain in false measures and weigh it out on dishonest scales.  And you mix the wheat you sell with chaff swept from the floor!  Then you enslave poor people for a debt of one piece of silver or a pair of sandals.

Spiritual Things Pt 14

The Fellowship of the Spirit Pt 2

1 Cor 2:9 but just as it is written, “Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, And which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those who love Him.”

10 For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. 11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, 13 which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.

THE HOLY SPIRITS REALTION TO BELIEVERS?

GOD NEVER CONVICTS US BY TELLING US HOW BAD WE ARE BUT BY HOW GOOD HE IS.

HE DOES NOT SHOW US OUR SIN BUT HE SHOWS US HIS LOVE.

GOD SHOWS THE WORLD THEIR SIN.  HE SHOWS THE CHURCH HIS LOVE

THE HOLY SPIRIT NEVER FOCUSES ON YOUR WEAKNESS HE MAGNIFIES GOD’S STRENGTH.   Ex Peter…

2 Cor 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.

FELLOWSHIP… KOINANIA…   THIS WORD HAS 7 DIFF MEANINGS

1 COMMUNION

2 PRESENCE

3 THE FELLOWSHIP

4 SHARING ONE WITH ANOTHER

5 TO PARTICIPATE WITH – WORK WITH

6 INTIMACY

7 FRIENDSHIP

  1. COMMUNION: MEANS WALKING WITH HIM DAILY…

COMMUNION IS HIM, ENABLING YOU TO PRAY.

Luke 3:21 Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus was also baptized, and while He was praying, heaven was opened,  22 and the Holy Spirit descended

Acts 1:14 These all with one mind were continually devoting themselves to prayer

Rom 8:15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!”  (Gal 4:6)

COMMUNION IS CONTINUED PRAYER

R.A. TORREY – WHERE THERE IS MUCH PRAYER THERE WILL BE MUCH OF THE SPIRIT AND WHERE THERE IS MUCH OF THE SPIRIT THERE WILL BE MUCH PRAYER

  1. PRESENCE – MEANS; THE SUBSTANCE OF GOD.

THE PRESENCE OF GOD ISN’T SOMETHING YOU FEEL BUT IT’S SOMETHING THAT YOU LIVE IN.

  1. FELLOWSHIP – MEANS; COUNSEL, SOMEONE WHO IS INSTRUCTING YOU, GUIDING YOU…

FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM CHANGES THE WAY YOU HEAR THINGS.

  1. SHARING TOGETHER – GOD TEACHING YOU

WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT SHARES THINGS WITH YOU HE’S FEEDING YOUR SPIRIT MAN.

  1. PARTICIPATION WITH – THAT IS HIM CONFIRMING WHAT YOU SAY.

AS WE SHARE OR PREACH THE WORD HE CONFIRMS THE WORD WITH SIGNS FOLLOWING.

  1. INTIMACY – THIS CONTAINS THE IDEA OF WORSHIP…

YOU CAN’T HAVE INTIMACY WITHOUT WORSHIP.

  1. FRIENDSHIP – HE WILL ALWAYS BE YOUR CLOSEST FRIEND AND COMPANION.

WE LEARN TO KNOW THE FRIENDSHIP OF THE SPIRIT BECAUSE OF HIS FELLOWSHIP AND PRESENCE ON OUR LIVES

KOINANIA WITH THE SPIRIT CHANGED THE WAY THEY SPOKE

THEY WERE FULL AND SPOKE WITH BOLDNESS  (Acts 2,4)

PETER PREACHING

Acts 5:32 And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him.”

CONCERNING STEPHEN

Acts 6:10 says, “But they were unable to cope with the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking.”

IT WILL CHANGE YOUR POSITIONS.

IT TOOK HIM FROM AN TABLE WAITER TO AN EVANGELIST.

Acts 7:55 But being full of the Holy Spirit, he gazed intently into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God
