“Faith & Joy” Pt 11

“Good medicine”

Neh 8:10 Then he said to them, “Go, eat of the fat, drink of the sweet, and send portions to him who has nothing prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not be grieved (Sorrow, sorrowful), for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”

THERE IS HEALING AND RESTORATION IN JOY.

Nas Prov 12:25 Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, But a good word makes it glad.

Youngs – Sorrow in the heart of a man boweth down, And a good word maketh him glad.

Nas Prov 15:13 A joyful heart makes a cheerful face, But when the heart is sad, the spirit is broken.

THE OUTSIDE IS A REFLECTION OF THE INSIDE…

Yngs 15:13 – A joyful heart maketh glad the face, And by grief of heart is the spirit smitten.

Yngs Prov 17:22 A rejoicing heart doth good to the body, And a smitten spirit drieth the bone.

Nas Prov 17:22 A joyful heart is good medicine, (Prov 4:20-22)

WE DON’T RECEIVE ACCORDING TO WHAT GOD CAN DO. WE RECEIVE ACCORDING TO OUR FAITH.

Amp Prov 17:22 “A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones”

Gw “a joyful heart is good medicine, but depression drains ones strength”

Faith & Joy” Pt 10

“Authority and Joy”

Neh 8:10 Then he said to them, “Go, eat of the fat, drink of the sweet, and send portions to him who has nothing prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not be grieved (Sorrow), for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”

Kjv Prov 29:2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked bear rule the people mourn.

TNL When the Godly are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked are in power the people groan.

TLB With Good men in authority, the people rejoice; but with the wicked in power, they groan.

Nas Luke 9:1 And He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all the demons, and to heal diseases.

Luke 9:6 “And departing they began going about among the villages, preaching the gospel, and healing everywhere.

Luke 10:1 “Now after this the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them two and two ahead of him”

9 And Heal those in it, who are sick, and say to them, “The kingdom of God has come near to you”

7 The seventy returned with Joy.

2 Cor 4:4 CALLS SATAN THE GOD OF THIS WORLD… HE RULES THROUGH INFLUENCE AND PEOPLE (Matt 4:8-9)

“Faith & Joy” Pt 9

“The Choice to Rejoice”

Neh 8:10 Then he said to them, “Go, eat of the fat, drink of the sweet, and send portions to him who has nothing prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not be grieved (Sorrow), for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”

THE LIFE THAT GOD HAS GIVEN US IS TO BE A LIFE OF JOY!

Nas Phil 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!

Wey “Always be glad in the Lord: I will repeat it, be glad.”

Nas 1 Thess 5:16 Rejoice always;

REJOICING IS A CHOICE

THE CHARACTERISTIC OF A CARNAL CHRISTIAN IS THAT THEY ARE FEELING DOMINATED.

IF YOU ARE LEAD BY FEELINGS & DOMINATED YOU WILL BE UNSTABLE YOUR INTIRE LIFE.

Nas Matt 5:10 Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.11 “Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Luke 10:20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.”

ALWAYS KEEP IN MIND WHAT OTHERS ARE GRUMBLING AND FUSSING ABOUT YOU CAN FIND A REASON TO REJOICE!

Phil 1:14 and that most of the brethren, trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, have far more courage to speak the word of God without fear. 15 Some, to be sure, are preaching Christ even from envy and strife, but some also from good will; 16 the latter do it out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel; 17 the former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition rather than from pure motives, thinking to cause me distress in my imprisonment. 18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice,

PAUL IS STRONG BECAUSE HE’S REJOICING…

James 1:9 But the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position; 10 and the rich man is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away.

John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

HE’S TELLING THEM WHAT TO DO IN THE MIDST OF THE FEELINGS OF FEAR…

27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. 28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

“Faith & Joy” Pt 8

“The oil of Joy”

Neh 8:10 Then he said to them, “Go, eat of the fat, drink of the sweet, and send portions to him who has nothing prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”

LACK OF JOY IS CONNECTED TO STUBBORNNESS!

John 15:10 “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments, and abide in His love. 11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.

Ex. JESUS BAPTIZED IN THE RIVER

JESUS DWELT IN THE FULL MANIFEST LOVE OF THE FATHER.

Psa. 45:7 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated wickedness; Therefore God, Thy God, has anointed Thee With the oil of joy above Thy fellows.

OUR BIGGEST MOTIVATION SHOULD BE TO PLEASE GOD…

Psa. 16:8 I have set the LORD continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. 9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will dwell securely.

11 Thou wilt make known to me the path of life; In Thy presence is fulness of joy; In Thy right hand there are pleasures forever.

GET CLOSER TO GOD BY MAKING A HEART ADJUSTMENT…

Nas Matt. 19:16 And behold, one came to Him and said, “Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?” 17 And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.”

THE KEY TO FULL JOY IS FULL FELLOWSHIP

18 He said to Him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not commit murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; 19 Honor your father and mother; and You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 20 The young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept; what am I still lacking?”
21 Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

22 But when the young man heard this statement, he went away grieved; for he was one who owned much property.

IT’S DANGEROUS NOT TO DO WHAT HE TELLS US TO DO IMMEDIATELY

Luke 19:1 And He entered and was passing through Jericho. 2 And behold, there was a man called by the name of Zaccheus; and he was a chief tax-gatherer, and he was rich. 3 And he was trying to see who Jesus was, and he was unable because of the crowd, for he was small in stature. 4 And he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree in order to see Him, for He was about to pass through that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, “Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” 6 And he hurried and came down, and received Him gladly.

8 And Zaccheus stopped and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, half of my possessions I will give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will give back four times as much.” 9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham.

THERE’S JOY IN SALVATION…
Psa. 51:12 Restore to me the joy of Thy salvation, And sustain me with a willing spirit.

STINGY, GREEDY, REBELLIOUS PEOPLE ARE THE MOST UNHAPPY PEOPLE!

Is. 12:2 “Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For the LORD GOD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation.” 3 Therefore you will joyously draw water From the springs of salvation.

“Faith & Joy” Pt 7

“Joy and obedience”

Neh. 8:9 Then Nehemiah, who was the governor, and Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, “This day is holy to the LORD your God; do not mourn or weep.” For all the people were weeping when they heard the words of the law.

10 Then he said to them, “Go, eat of the fat, drink of the sweet, and send portions to him who has nothing prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”

Joy is a force…

Joy is a lot more up to us than it is God…

1Pet. 1:5 who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, 7 that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ 8 and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,

The more faith you’re walking in the more joy and peace…

John 15:10 “If you keep My commandments (Do what I tell you to do), you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments, and abide in His love.

If you will make the choice to obey him you will abide in his love… his manifested love.

If you don’t walk in the light you have, your heart will condemn you and that will affect your faith.

John 15:11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.

Lack of joy is connected to stubbornness!

The more full of joy you are the harder it is for the enemy to do anything with you.

1John 1:3 what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, that you also may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things we write, so that our joy may be made complete.

7 but if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Neh. 8:9 Then Nehemiah, who was the governor, and Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, “This day is holy to the LORD your God; do not mourn or weep.” For all the people were weeping when they heard the words of the law.

We need to hear the word of God regularly

Is. 55:12 “For you will go out with joy, And be led forth with peace

Neh. 8:10 Then he said to them, “Go, eat of the fat, drink of the sweet, and send portions to him who has nothing prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”

1Pet. 1:5 who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, 7 that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ

1Th. 5:16 Rejoice (Joyful) always;

Joel 3:10 Let the weak say, “I am a mighty man.” (Strong)

You have to encourage yourself in the Lord… strengthen!

1Pet. 1:8 and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,

This is not about how we feel it’s choice of our will..

Acts 27:18 The next day as we were being violently storm-tossed, they began to jettison the cargo; 19 and on the third day they threw the ship’s tackle overboard with their own hands. 20 And since neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small storm was assailing us, from then on all hope of our being saved was gradually abandoned.

21 And when they had gone a long time without food, then Paul stood up in their midst and said, “Men, you ought to have followed my advice and not to have set sail from Crete, and incurred this damage and loss.

22 “And yet now I urge you to keep up your courage (Good cheer), for there shall be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.

There must be a choice! fear or cheer?

23 “For this very night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood before me, 24 saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before Caesar; and behold, God has granted you all those who are sailing with you.’

25 “Therefore, keep up your courage (be of good cheer), men, for I believe God, that it will turn out exactly as I have been told.

33 And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing. 34 Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you.
36 Then were they all of good cheer

“Faith & Joy” Pt 5

“Victory”

Neh. 8:9 mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.

10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry (sorrowful); for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

1John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

You can focus on what’s on you or what’s in you!

1John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

You are by nature a winner… A conqueror… A victor…

You are never defeated until you are defeated inside!

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation:

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

2Cor. 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
he put himself in us so we could reflect him…
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
if we keep going we see the results of it…

8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed;

Num. 13:25 And they returned from searching of the land after forty days. 26 And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land. 27 And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it. 28 Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there. 29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan. (trouble on every side)

30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses (Hush – this is how you go down), and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

It’s the giants in your heart that get you… not the ones you can see…

31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. 33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

14:1 And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night. (They are defeated, conquered)

14:22 Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;
23 Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it: 24 But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.

Josh. 14:10 And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.
11 As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in. (what kept him so strong?)

12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.
13 And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.

“Faith & Joy” Pt 4

“From sorrow to Joy”

Neh. 8:9 And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep.

When you experience the joy of the Lord you are tasting your future…

Prov. 17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Prov. 15:13 A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

Rom. 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

You can’t control everything around you but you can control what you think on.

John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

2Cor. 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; 14 Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. 15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. 16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

2Cor. 7:8 For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season. (Yng’s “an hour)

Yng 9 I now do rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye were made sorry to reformation, for ye were made sorry toward God, that in nothing ye might receive damage from us;

Yng 10 For the sorrow toward God reformation to salvation not to be repented of doth work, and the sorrow of the world doth work death,

Nas 10 For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

Faith and joy is being spiritually minded…

Psa. 30:1 I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. 2 O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. 3 O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. 4Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. 5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

6 And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved. 7 LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled. 8 I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication. 9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth? 10 Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper.11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness

Nlt Psa. 30:11 You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy,

12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

“Faith & Joy” Pt 2

“Joy Now”

1Pet. 1:5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time 6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations

Rejoicing means; shouting loud, jumping, and spinning around…

7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ

8 Whom having not seen, ye love;

Believing when you don’t see it pleases God.

Everything Jesus did he did by faith…

8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory

The more we experience His spirit you can’t express it

8 yet believing, ye rejoice with joy

Your measure of believing may determine your measure of rejoicing…

Heb. 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

You can be so full of joy that it resembles being drunk or high…

Expressions of joy include laughing, singing, shouting & dancing…

2 who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross,

Walking by sight keeps you in the present. Walking by faith keeps you in the future.

Acts 16:22 And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them. 23 And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely

24 Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks. 25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, (started crying & reasoning) and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.
