Overcoming Fear Pt 6

“How to stay calm”

FAITH AND HOPE… FEAR AND DREAD….

FEAR GIVES THE ENEMY AN ACCESS POINT INTO YOUR PATH.

FAITH GIVES GOD AN ACCESS POINT INTO YOUR PATH.

WHAT DO WE DO WITH FEAR?

  1. RESIST IT…
  2. REPLACE IT…

2 Cor 7:5 For even when we came into Macedonia our flesh had no rest, but we were afflicted on every side: conflicts without, fears within.

Isaiah 7:2 When it was reported to the house of David, saying, “The Arameans have camped in Ephraim,” his heart and the hearts of his people shook as the trees of the forest shake with the wind.

3 Then the Lord said to Isaiah, “Go out now to meet Ahaz, you and your son Shear-jashub, 4 and say to him, ‘Take care and be calm, have no fear and do not be fainthearted* because of these two stubs of smoldering firebrands, on account of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and the son of Remaliah.

FAITH NEVER BRAGS ON IT’S OPPONENT.

Isaiah 7:9 If you will not believe, Surely you shall not be established.”

THE SPIRIT OF FAITH COMES FROM AN ESTABLISHED HEART!

AN ESTABLISHED HEART KNOWS WHAT IT BELIEVES.

AN ESTABLISHED HEART DOESN’T FEAR WHEN AN EVIL REPORT COMES.

2 Chr 32:1 After these acts of faithfulness Sennacherib king of Assyria came and invaded Judah and besieged the fortified cities, and thought to break into them for himself.

6 He appointed military officers over the people and gathered them to him in the square at the city gate, and spoke encouragingly to them, saying,

7 “Be strong and courageous, do not fear or be dismayed because of the king of Assyria nor because of all the horde that is with him; for the one with us is greater than the one with him.

8 With him is only an arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people relied on the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

KJV And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

TO REST IS TO LEAN ON, RELY ON…. TO TRUST IN..

FOR EVERY TERROR THERE IS A TRUTH…

Psalm 112:7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.

8 His heart is established, he shall not be afraid,

Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed (Resting, leaning) on You, Because he trusts in You. 4 Trust in the Lord forever, For in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.

YLT An imagination supported Thou fortifiest peace–peace! For in Thee it is confident.
