“Entering into rest”
Mark 4:35 On that day, when evening came, He said to them, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd, they took Him along with them in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were with Him. 37 And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. 38 Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” 39 And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm.
40 And He said to them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” 41 They became very much afraid and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”
2 Cor 4:13 But having the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed, therefore I spoke,” we also believe, therefore we also speak,
2 Tim 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind.
WHEN IT COMES TO SPIRITS; THE KEY IS WHAT YOU YIELD TO OR WHAT YOU RESIST.
WE NEED TO HAVE A ZERO TOLERANCE FOR FEAR.
LIVING FEAR FREE REQUIRES MIND RENEWAL.
IF YOU ARE STRESSED OUT… YOU ARE NOT RESTING SPIRITUALLY!
WE CAN WALK FEARLESS JUST LIKE JESUS DID.
Hebrews 4:1 Therefore, let us fear if, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short of it.
2 For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united (MIXED) by faith in those who heard.
THEIR RESPONSE WAS FEAR.
3 For we who have believed enter that rest,
WHEN YOU GENUINELY BELIEVE, YOU WILL ENTER REST.
3 For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said,
“As I swore in My wrath, They shall not enter My rest,”
although His works were finished from the foundation of the world.
WHAT’S GIVEN BY GRACE MUST BE POSSESSED BY FAITH.
4 For He has said somewhere concerning the seventh day: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”; 5 and again in this passage, “They shall not enter My rest.”
6 Therefore, since it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly had good news preached to them failed to enter because of disobedience, 7 He again fixes a certain day, “Today,” saying through David after so long a time just as has been said before,
“Today if you hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts.”
8 For if Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that.
9 So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.
10 For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His.
THE TEMPTATION IS TO WALK BY SIGHT.
11 Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience.
THE REST IS A REAL PLACE WHERE WE ARE TO LIVE EVERY DAY!
12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
