PRAYER IS A LEARNED SKILL… FUNDAMENTALS ARE REQUIRED…

NAS Luke 11:1 It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, after He had finished, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray just as John also taught his disciples.”

1. THE IMPORTANCE OF UNDERSTANDING THAT EFFECTIVE PRAYER IS HEARTFELT AND DONE IN THE SPIRIT

2. GOD IS OUR FATHER AND HE RESPONDS TO BOLDNESS AND DRAWING OUR STRENGTH FROM HIM AND A LAST DAY’S MINDSET.

PRAYER ALLOWS US A WINDOW INTO GOD’S HEART.

THE PRAYER CLOSET IS A BIRTHING CENTER FOR PURPOSE…

Acts 1:14 – “these all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of jesus and with his brethren.”

IF YOU DON’T EVER GET IN THE SPIRIT YOU DON’T RECEIVE ANYTHING AND IF YOU DON’T RECEIVE ANYTHING YOU DON’T CARRY ANYTHING AND IF YOU DON’T CARRY ANYTHING YOU CAN’T GIVE OUT ANYTHING.

JESUS EMPHASIZED HIS HOUSE AS A HOUSE OF PRAYER
Isa. 56:7 “Even then will i bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.”

LUKE 19:46, “Saying unto them, it is written, my house is the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.”

I Cor 3:16, “Know ye not that you are the temple of God, and that the spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Heb 3:6 – “But Christ as a son over his own house, whose house we are…if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.”

I Cor. 6:19- “What, know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have of God and ye are not your own.”

I Pet 2:5, “Ye also as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to god by Jesus Christ.”

A PORTION OF THE SPIRITUAL SACRIFICES THAT PETER IS TALKING ABOUT IS PRAYER.

Rev. 5:8 When He had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

Acts 10:4 “Cornelius!” And fixing his gaze on him and being much alarmed, he said, “What is it, Lord?” And he said to him, “Your prayers and alms have ascended as a memorial before God.

JOHN WESLEY – “It seems God is limited by our prayer life, that he can do nothing for humanity unless someone asks him.”
