THE BEAUTIFUL NAME OF JESUS Pt 2

Phil. 2:9 Therefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, 11and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Eph 3:14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,

Acts 4:29 And now, Lord, look upon their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants to speak thy word with all boldness, 30 while thy stretchest forth thy hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of thy holy Servant Jesus.

Every believer has the redemptive legal right to use the name of Jesus.

When we pray in his name, not only are we backed up by his authority, we are backed up by his office, his achievements and his anointing.

King – he rules,
Prophet – he commands,
Priest – he intercedes

Eph. 1:18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might (kjv – his mighty power) 20 which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,

Power in vs 19 is the greek word dunamis – it means force, miraculous power, ability, abundance, might, strength, it is power that reproduces itself.

Working in vs 19 is the greek word energia – it means efficiency (“energy”):—operation, strong, (effectual) working. it’s power released

Strength of his might in vs 19 2 greek words
Ischus – it means force; forcefulness ability, might(-ily), power, strength. – power that dominates – kingly power
Kratos – means vigor (“great”) (literally or figuratively):—dominion – power that rules

Eph. 1:20 which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the one to come. 22 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fulness of Him who fills all in all.

1 when you talk about his authority you are talking about all that he accomplished through the cross.

2 when you say, “in Jesus name”, you are backed up by his office.

3 when you say, “in Jesus name”, you are backed up by his achievements.

4 when you say, “in Jesus name” he backs you up with his anointing.

John 14:13 “And whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 “If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.

Jesus is not only your savior, he is your high priest.

Rom. 8:34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.

Rom. 8:37 we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.
38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Heb. 7:24 but He, on the other hand, because He abides forever, holds His priesthood permanently. 25 Hence, also, He is able to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

Jesus obtained the authority in his name.

Phil. 2:9 Therefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,

1 Cor. 12:3, “no man can say Jesus is lord except by the spirit”.

How did he receive that name?

  1. By his deity – col 1:15-18, heb 1:1-3
    By virtue of being god and as god only he could obtain this honor.

2.  By his birth – matt 1:23
By his humanity as Savior Matt. 1:21 for it is He who will save His people from their sins.”

3. By his sinlessness – 2 Cor. 5:21
He is the Holy lamb of God.

4. By his anointing – Is. 11:1-2
Because of his humanity and earthly limitations God gave him the fullness of his anointing to accomplish the work on earth.

Is. 11:1 Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, And a branch from his roots will bear fruit. 2And the Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD. 3 And He will delight in the fear of the LORD

5. By his achievements – Eph. 1:20-23 by what he accomplished for God and man.

6. By his glory – Phil. 2:5 and on

The name of Jesus and it’s free use is the children’s deposit.

Acts 2:21 ‘And it shall be, that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’

Luke 24:47 and that repentance for forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

2Th. 1:11 To this end also we pray for you always that our God may count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power; 12 in order that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
