4 KEYS FOR HIS SERVANTS
BOLDNESS – COMPASSION – RIGHTEOUSNESS – HUNGER
OUR DESIRES ARE RIGHT, BUT MOVEMENT IS THE KEY!
Where Boldness Comes From:
1- Knowing God
2- Compassion for others
CONNECTING WITH THE SOURCE MAKES YOU CONFIDENT IN LIFE
MY BOLDNESS IS PRODUCED IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD
2nd Key: Compassion
Compassion is defined by Merriam-Webster’s dictionary as “sympathetic consciousness of others’ distress together with a desire to alleviate it.
Syonyms: Pity, sympathy, empathy
Antonyms: callous, hard-hearted, indifferent,
COMPASSION GAVE GOD MOTIVATION FOR THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE
Boldness comes from prayer
**Boldness to DO God’s work comes from KNOWING GOD and from HAVING COMPASSION
RIGHTEOUSNESS HAS 2 PURPOSES FOR THE SERVANT
1- A weapon for the Servant against the devil’s condemnation
2- Puts God’s servants at ease- – we are enough. We’ve been given righteous status.
Doing God’s work puts us in a war zone. He sends us out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore, to walk with endurance, we must know our righteous nature.
IN ORDER FOR COMPASSION AND BOLDNESS TO FLOW, YOU MUST BE RELEASED FROM LAW!
HUNGER = OPPOSITE OF COMPLACENCY
Amos 1:3 This is what the Lord says: “The peole of Damascus (Syria) have sinned again and again, and I will not forget it. I will not let them go unpunished any longer! They beat down my people in Gilead as grain is threshed with threshing sledges of iron.
Amos 1:6 The people of Gaza (Philistia) have sinned…They sent my people into exile, selling them as slaves in Edom.
Amos 1:9 The people of Tyre have sinned….the broke their treaty of brotherhood with Israel, selling whole villages as slaves to Edom.
Amos 1:11 The people of Edom…chased down their relatives, the Israelites, with swords. They showed them no mercy and were unrelenting in their anger.
Amos 1:13 The people of Ammon…attacked Gilead to extend their borders, and committed cruel crimes, ripping open pregnant women with their swords
Amos 2:1 The people of Moab…have desecrated the tomb of Edom’s king and burned his bones to ashes.
Amos 2:4 Judah has rejected the laws of the LORD, refusing to obey him.
Amos 2:6 Israel…has perverted justice by selling honest people for silver and poor people for a pair of sandals. They trample helpless people in the dust and deny justice to those who are oppressed. Both father and son sleep with the same woman, corrupting my holy name. At their religious festivals, they lounge around in clothing stolen from their debtors. In the house of their god, they present offerings of wine purchased with stolen money.
Amos 2:11-12 I chose some of your sons to be prophets and others to be Nazarites. Can you deny this, my people of Israel? Asks the Lord. But you caused the Nazarites to sin by making them drink your wine, and you said to my prophets, “shut up!”
God says: you’re not walking with me!!!! You’re going the wrong direction! Amos 3:3 Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction? WERE NOT IN AGREEMENT!
GOD IS FIERCE in his rebuke of these people! Plagues- trying to get them to repent- suffered long time….
Amos 5:7 Wicked people! You twist justice, making it a bitter pill for the poor and oppressed. Righteousness and fair play are meaningless fictions to you
Amos 5:10 -11 How you hate honest judges! You despise people who tell the truth! You trample the poor and steal what little they have through taxes and unfair rent. Therefore, you will never live in the beautiful stone houses you are building. You will never drink wine from the lush vineyards you are planting. For I know the vast number of your sins and rebellions. You oppress good people by taking bribes and deprive the poor of justice in the courts. So those who are wise will keep quiet, for it is an evil time.
Amos 8:4-6 You rob the poor and trample the needy! You measure out your grain in false measures and weigh it out on dishonest scales. And you mix the wheat you sell with chaff swept from the floor! Then you enslave poor people for a debt of one piece of silver or a pair of sandals.
